[Dx-packages] [Bug 1306608] Re: Unity global menu delays actions in a gtk2 app

2014-04-11 Thread Sergio Benjamim
** Description changed:

There is a problem with this global menu from Unity, it delays
actions/things i do in the menu. It seems that the information from menu
is not send to the app.

Using vba-m gtk, i can not load saved games until I move the emulator
window. Take a look at the video.

  Step to reproduce:

  - Opens the vba-m emulator
  - Load a ROM
  - Save State in some time
  - Try to Load State (Emulation Load State Most Recent), you will notice
that it will not work
  - Move the emulator window to other place, you will that after you drop the
window, the emulator will load the saved state

  Or:
  - Opens the vba-m emulator
  - Load a ROM
  - Save State in some time
  - Try to Load State, you will notice that it will not work
  - Click in global menu, the menu drops down, and click again to close it, the
emulator will load the saved state after this action

+ Or:
+
+ - Opens the vba-m emulator
+ - Load a ROM
+ - Save State in some time
+ - Try to Load State, you will notice that it will not work
+ - Change to other window (lost focus from vbam), and returns to the emulator
window,it will load the saved state after this action
+

If i disable the global menu, to use the old gtk2 menu, it works fine
  (env UBUNTU_MENUPROXY=0 gvbam).

This emulator works fine in others desktops, like xfce, mate and kde.

[Dx-packages] [Bug 1099787] Re: Dash blur is too slow to fade in. Please don't fade it unless you can make it faster/smoother.

2014-01-31 Thread Sergio Benjamim
This fade in/out issue with unity dash working with export
UNITY_LOW_GFX_MODE=1 is still a problem in trusty. Even with blur
disable, fade in/out makes system slow, depending of your hardware
config.

[Dx-packages] [Bug 1273005] [NEW] Unity may use export UNITY_LOW_GFX_MODE=1 option in low hardware or VM

2014-01-26 Thread Sergio Benjamim
Public bug reported:

Trying to run Ubuntu in a low hardware (any hardware weaker than one
core 2 duo, i think) or in a virtual machine is painful. Even in a new
hardware, with core i7 for example, it is slow with Unity, if it uses
Intel graphics onboard.

There is a simple workaround, put export UNITY_LOW_GFX_MODE=1 in
.xprofile, in your home. If the hardware is weak, ubuntu could run Unity
with this option. This greatly improves performance.

Linux for human beings, so, only for human that have new and top
hardware? I know a lot of people that have a modest hardware (here in
Brazil is common to have a hardware from 3 or more years ago).

Yeah, i know that there are xubuntu and lubuntu, but people normally
knows Ubuntu, not others flavors. And as i said before, Unity is slow in
new hardware too (if you don't have a nvidia or amd graphic card
installed...).

Bug description:
Bug 1116289 made the BT indicator disappear when there is no hardware.
However, with that version I now also have it disappear when my
existing BT hardware is merely disabled. I. e. I disable BT from the
indicator, then it disappears, leaving me no obvious method to turn it
back on again. I can re-enabble it in control-center, and then the
  indicator comes back.

I think when it sees no actual BT hardware it ought to check rfkill
whether there is disabled BT hardware:

  $ grep -r . /sys/class/rfkill/rfkill0/{type,state,soft,persistent}
  /sys/class/rfkill/rfkill0/type:bluetooth
  /sys/class/rfkill/rfkill0/state:1
  /sys/class/rfkill/rfkill0/soft:0
  /sys/class/rfkill/rfkill0/persistent:1

After disabling BT from the indicator, soft changes to 1:

  $ grep -r . /sys/class/rfkill/rfkill0/{type,state,soft,persistent}
  /sys/class/rfkill/rfkill0/type:bluetooth
  /sys/class/rfkill/rfkill0/state:0
  /sys/class/rfkill/rfkill0/soft:1
  /sys/class/rfkill/rfkill0/persistent:1

[Dx-packages] [Bug 1099787] Re: Dash blur is too slow to fade in. Please don't fade it unless you can make it faster/smoother.

2013-11-15 Thread Sergio Benjamim
Using Ubuntu Trusty Tahr (daily build of nov 15) in a core i7-4700HQ and
Intel graphics, and dash fade in is still slow... and Alt+Tab
transitions are slow too... it's a shame for ubuntu to be slow in a new
hardware like this...

Change Blur effect to No blur or Static blur (using Ubuntu Tweak for
this) vastly improved performance.

Other solution is include:

export UNITY_LOW_GFX_MODE=1

to the .xprofile file in user folder, like comment #10.

This last solution works well here (and it is very simple to
implement!). Why ubuntu not coming with this file configuration active,
knowing that 70 or 80% of all desktops, laptops and ultrabooks does not
come with an Nvidia or AMD card, just a single Intel graphics? And
knowing also that the hardware can do all these effects is not installed
by default (like Nvidia and AMD graphics cards)?

Public bug reported:

It seems that there is a bug with Launchpad Unity app (the Unity
launcher), if you try to drag-and-drop to other place, close the session
and login again, the icon returns to previous position and a lot of
Apport pop-ups appeared, like this bugs:

[Dx-packages] [Bug 1227841] [NEW] compiz crashed with SIGSEGV in g_mount_spec_to_dbus_with_path()

2013-09-19 Thread Sergio Benjamim
Public bug reported:

I was trying to search an app from the Unity dash, I found the app but
system crash. The system returned, but windows are without border
(without minimize and close buttons, it not possible to drag and drop to
other place).

I'm using nvidia-319-updates and nvidia-prime (nvidia 319.49). Nvidia GT
740M and Intel i7-4700HQ.
