[Dx-packages] [Bug 1252121] Re: missing PrepareForSleep signal after resuming, causing networking to stay disabled
The issue of the network not reconnecting after a suspend cycle is present also in utopic (14.10). Maybe it is another bug, but if this is the case, the fact that other bugs opened on the issue are made duplicate of this should be corrected. The issue completely breaks the possibility of using wake on lan. Machine is suspended Machine is waken on lan Machine is unusable because it properly wake on lan, but it is not on the lan. Please *consider* the option of adding a script to /etc/pm/sleep.d/ to wake up or restart network manager as a workaround, until the bug can addressed otherwise. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of DX Packages, which is subscribed to systemd-shim in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1252121 Title: missing PrepareForSleep signal after resuming, causing networking to stay disabled Status in NetworkManager: New Status in wicd: New Status in systemd-shim package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Status in systemd-shim source package in Saucy: Won't Fix Status in systemd-shim source package in Trusty: Confirmed Bug description: As per request from bug #1184262, this is a new report, along with dbus (to be attached) ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 13.10 Package: systemd-services 204-0ubuntu19 Uname: Linux 3.12.0-custom x86_64 ApportVersion: 2.12.5-0ubuntu2.1 Architecture: amd64 Date: Sun Nov 17 20:24:41 2013 MarkForUpload: True SourcePackage: systemd UpgradeStatus: Upgraded to saucy on 2013-10-17 (31 days ago) SRU INFORMATION: FIX: https://github.com/desrt/systemd-shim/commit/9e1ebe3ab (in trusty already) Regression potential: Low. [Dx-packages] [Bug 1242462] Re: bluetooth seems badly broken in saucy
The reason for the last comment is that apparently many issues seem to be related by higher level tools using wrong (maybe old?) interfaces for low level operation, as the strace indicates for bluedevil. The fact that the same kind of issues are present using both the unity indicator interface and the kde bluedevil interface seems to me an interesting symptom for developers. The fact that there is no bluetooth applet to test with the most current higher level tools is reported because it makes testing more difficult. In any case, please let me know if it is better/OK if I close this bug as invalid and open - one for bluetooth applet missing - one for bluedevil not working - one for indicator bluetooth not working -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of DX Packages, which is subscribed to indicator-bluetooth in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1242462 Title: bluetooth seems badly broken in saucy Status in “indicator-bluetooth” package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Bug description: just upgraded to 13.10 on an EEEPC 1000H. [Dx-packages] [Bug 1232814] Re: Hibernate option is missing from menu in 13.10 even after trying to re-enable
Hi, 1) Weird enough the method by Jeffery To, namely the editing of /etc/polkit-1/localauthority/50-local.d/com.ubuntu.enable-hibernate.pkla to include the logind polkit authorization works in a kubuntu machine and is persistent here... So it fails on my ubuntu laptop but it works on my kubuntu laptop. Here gdbus call --system --dest org.freedesktop.login1 --object-path /org/freedesktop/login1 --method org.freedesktop.login1.Manager.CanHibernate returns 'Yes', not 'Challenge' as on the Ubuntu machine. 2) to Shiraz Dindar. Thanks to the pointer to the not-actually-hybrid- suspend-mode. That's quite interesting! However, I'm a bit scared by it. I wonder what happens if I suspend and the laptop decides to switch on to hibernate, doing tons of disk activity, when I am on my Vespa on the infamous 'pavé' (sort of quite irregular stone surface) present in many Italian roads... -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of DX Packages, which is subscribed to indicator-session in Ubuntu. [Dx-packages] [Bug 1232814] Re: Hibernate option is missing from menu in 13.10 even after trying to re-enable
No, we are six. But I do not think that it make much sense to report this as a bug. It is certainly a feature thought of by a usability committee. In any case do not despair. Shortly they will realize that there are people like me with a stupid laptop that drains the battery in suspend mode and cannot hold it for more than a few hours. As soon as they see that there are cases where suspending instead of hibernating is a sure path to loose data, suspend will also be removed from the menus and any way to try to reactivate it will be made ineffective. By the way, have you noticed how difficult it is to create issues to your hardware and OS when the machine is powered off? One wonders why users are still getting the possibility to switch it on... seems a silly way to allow them to look for trouble. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of DX Packages, which is subscribed to indicator-session in Ubuntu.
