ok, found and installed the unity-dbgsym and libnux-4.0-0-dbgsym but that does not change the backtrace, so I assume it's a compiz bug. I followed https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingCompiz. This is due to a high number of bookmarks in a user profile (hundreds). Public bug reported: I use sssd to authenticate users, and due to a change introduced in accountsservice on unlock, the desktop is shown immediately wqith no password entry. Upstream has a patch here: https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=708997 Please apply ASAP. I tested the patch with a dpkg-buildpackage local install.
