hmm. sorry. no debug symbols for compiz

since recompiling compiz on the affected machine will remove the illegal
instruction i cannot help you on this any further.

2015-09-18 Thread Tobias Lausch
ok, found and installed the unity-dbgsym and libnux-4.0-0-dbgsym
but that does not change the backtrace, so I assume it's a compiz bug.

I followed https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingCompiz.
There they say to install compiz-core-dbgsym compiz-plugins-dbgsym
compiz-fusion-plugins-main-dbgsym compiz-fusion-plugins-extra-dbgsym
compizconfig-backend-gconf-dbgsym libcompizconfig0-dbgsym compiz-gnome-dbgsym

after adding the debug debs

deb http://ddebs.ubuntu.com vivid main restricted universe multiverse
deb http://ddebs.ubuntu.com vivid-updates main restricted universe multiverse
deb http://ddebs.ubuntu.com vivid-proposed main restricted universe multiverse

and running apt-get update. ;-)

But there are not any compiz-dbgsym in the repositories.
any idea?

[Dx-packages] [Bug 1271729] [NEW] Custom .desktop-file doesn't show up in Unity

2014-01-22 Thread Tobias Hellgren
Public bug reported:

Ubuntu: 13.10

- Creating a fully compatible .desktop file in Ubuntu 13.10 and placing
it in either ~/.local/share/applications or /usr/share/applications
doesn't generate an icon in Unity.

- However, copying an exisiting launcher and editing it does show
result, albeit somewhat erratic - icon and exec does update but title
stays the same as the original .desktop.

- Here's a screenshot after a new launcher has been added Mean Streets
(showing up as a desktop launcher in Nautilus), note the lack of the same in

Title:
Custom .desktop-file doesn't show up in Unity

Status in “unity” package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
  Ubuntu: 13.10
  Unity: 7.1.2+13.10.20131014.1-0ubuntu1

  - Creating a fully compatible .desktop file in Ubuntu 13.10 and
placing it in either ~/.local/share/applications or
/usr/share/applications doesn't generate an icon in Unity.

  - However, copying an exisiting launcher and editing it does show
result, albeit somewhat erratic - icon and exec does update but title
stays the same as the original .desktop.

  - Here's a screenshot after a new launcher has been added Mean Streets
(showing up as a desktop launcher in Nautilus), note the lack of the same in
Unity:
