I can reproduce this since 14.04 (I described it on a bug to another problem: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/unity-settings- daemon/+bug/1310745/comments/1 ). My graphics card is from intel: VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation 3rd Gen Core processor Graphics Controller (rev 09) (prog-if 00 [VGA controller]) Subsystem: ASUSTeK Computer Inc. Zenbook Prime UX31A Flags: bus master, fast devsel, latency 0, IRQ 44 Memory at f780 (64-bit, non-prefetchable) [size=4M] Memory at e000 (64-bit, prefetchable) [size=256M] I/O ports at f000 [size=64] Expansion ROM at unassigned [disabled] Capabilities: [90] MSI: Enable+ Count=1/1 Maskable- 64bit- Capabilities: [d0] Power Management version 2 Capabilities: [a4] PCI Advanced Features Kernel driver in use: i915 When I want to use a high resolution on my external monitor I execute: xrandr --newmode 2560x1440_35.00 173.58 2560 2696 2968 3376 1440 1441 1444 1469 -HSync +Vsync xrandr --addmode HDMI1 2560x1440_35.00 xrandr --output HDMI1 --mode 2560x1440_35 --output eDP1 --off While this doesn't work reliable on 14.04. anymore (other bug) the first or second time I execute these lines there is a state where the resolution is much smaller and the mouse cursor doesn't matches to the things you want to click. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of DX Packages, which is subscribed to unity in Ubuntu.
