[Dx4win] CQ DX Field Submittal
I expanded the QSO window using F5. I have grid AH confirmed QSO's for SSB, Digital, and 10M. I next made sure there were no award flags for any grid AH QSO - used F8 to sort this. I put S in the mode box for 5W0TR, a 15m ssb contact. I put S in the band box for K8T, a 10M SSB contact. I put S in the mode box for 5W0DP, a 17M RTTY contact. I confirmed that no other qso with a grid of AH had any set flags in the CQ DX Field submissions box. I deselected in the Award box the checkmarks for both Band and Mode but left the checkmark next to Mixed so that I would print out only a Mixed submission. I next printed the mixed submittal and darn it but there were three duplicate entries for grid AH Mixed. All three of the above QSO's, where I put an S, showed up counting for Grid AH Mixed. Only one should have shown up in this Mixed Award printout. Note that none of the three had an S flag in the Mixed column. I next wanted to see what would appear in the SSB mode printout. I selected only Mode in the Award box. I selected PHO in the Modes box and All Bands in the Bands box. The Phone printout had two entries for GRID AH. They were the two SSB contacts above having an S in the award flag for mode. One was intended for SSB mode and the other intended to count for 10M. I've done these submittals many times in the past with earlier versions of DX4WIN. This one is not working correctly. Or, I'm not doing something correctly for this version. I cannot go any further with this Submission until I know how to use it properly. It works perfectly if I don't try to select specific Grid QSO's. But I need to do that because some QSO's that DX4WIN selected are near the boundaries of two Grids and the QSL doesn't give a LAT or LON or Grid location. I have alternate QSL's that are clearly within the boundaries of a grid or so state that on the QSL card. But DX4WIN won't let me make any changes and still print out properly without having more than one entry per mode or band. I tried to give my exact procedure above and in my prior email. What am I doing wrong? [Dx4win] LOGPlus! conversion
LOGPlus! logbooks are in Dbase-III format. Steve K6UM pointed out that these files can be read into Excel. I tried and sure enough, Excel 2003 can read the logbook! It can only handle 65K QSOs (lines) at a time, however, so you need some way to split the log if it's too big. You can at least save the log in some other ASCII format (like .CSV), then there might be an easier path to import into DX4WIN. From what I recall, there are at least two different formats of the .DBF file from LOGPlus! 73 - Jim AD1C -- Jim Reisert AD1C, , http://www.ad1c.us __ Dx4win mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/dx4win Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:Dx4win@mailman.qth.net This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html

Re: [Dx4win] CQ DX Field Submittal
Hi Bud, If you want to pick specific QSLs, expand the QSO window using the F5 key until you see the award flags at the bottom. You must "unsubmit" the QSO you do not want to submit and "submit" the QSO you do want to submit. Change the award flags(s) to "--" and "S", respectively (make sure to pay attention to mixed/band/mode award flags, change all the are necessary). When you are done, re-run the submission report. This is just like every other award. 73 - JIm AD1C On Fri, Oct 30, 2009 at 1:31 PM, Bud Governale, W3LL wrote: > I'm getting ready to do a CQ DX Field Submission using V8.02 > Since there are separate awards for Mixed, Phone, Digital and certain > selected bands, I put a check mark in Mixed, Band > and Mode in the CQ Field Award choices. > > The Submission printouts for Mixed, Phone, Digital, 10M, 40M and 80M are all > ok with one entry for each grid. > > However, I now want to choose specific QSL's to make the submission easier. > If countries located within a single grid field are selected (identified in > the application literature) and they are > confirmed by a national organization (such as LOTW) then a submitted QSL is > not required. > > Here's an example of my problem: > > Grid AG is only confirmed by two QSO's with ZL8R. [Dx4win] CQ DX Field Submittal
I'm getting ready to do a CQ DX Field Submission using V8.02 Since there are separate awards for Mixed, Phone, Digital and certain selected bands, I put a check mark in Mixed, Band and Mode in the CQ Field Award choices. The Submission printouts for Mixed, Phone, Digital, 10M, 40M and 80M are all ok with one entry for each grid. However, I now want to choose specific QSL's to make the submission easier. If countries located within a single grid field are selected (identified in the application literature) and they are confirmed by a national organization (such as LOTW) then a submitted QSL is not required. Here's an example of my problem: Grid AG is only confirmed by two QSO's with ZL8R. One for 40M SSB and one for 15M RTTY. In the ZL8R 40M SSB QSO window, in the CQFld column, I put an S (submitted) in the Mode column (for SSB) and one S in the Band column (for 40M). In the ZL8R 15M RTTY QSO window, in the CQFld column, I put an S in the Mixed column ( RTTY now adds a Mixed mode to the previous SSB QSO) and one in the Mode column (for RTTY). Problem: Now when I print out the mixed submission listing (selecting award CQ DX Field, Checking only Mixed award, Selecting All Bands and All Modes) the printout has two entries for Grid AG. One for SSB and one for RTTY QSO's. Only one entry should be listed for each of the Grids for the mixed mode submission. In this case only the RTTY QSO should have been listed since it was the only one selected (S) for Mixed Mode. The above is just one example. I've done this for other grids that have the similar QSO combinations. Now my Mixed submission printout has many duplicate grid confirmations in it. How am I supposed to accomplish this? 73, Bud W3LL w...@arrl.net __ Dx4win mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/dx4win Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:Dx4win@mailman.qth.net This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html

Re: [Dx4win] Filtered Log
Mel and Tom: Thanks for the prompt responses. I did something wrong in trying to print a range of dates (the CQWWDX2009SSB contest) QSOs. I used the filter command to separate them out, then printed. But I didn't use F9 to cancel the filter, although using the drop down I did cancel the filter there. Lo and behold, the contest QSOs had disappeared, not to be found again. I tried your suggestions, but couldn't find it. So I just gritted my teeth and re-entered the 240 contacts (from the printed pages). Some day I'll play with it again to see what I did wrong, but this time with a "practice" QSO file. BTW, what is a file with the extension" ~xl " and how can I recover it? Also, when I click on "Backup" from the drop down menu, where is that back up file saved and what name is it given?
