[Dx4win] Group number problem
I am using DX4Win 8.05. I have created a group number for every contest and I have created group numbers up to 262 without any problems. Then I did a F8 search for every contest, did a Multiple QSO Operations/ Set Group number and it did work fine up to group number 253. When I try to do Multiple QSO Operations/Set Group number with group number 254 I get a small window saying Error Value is not within required range! But I can still put in group number 254 (and so on...) in the QSO entry window, QSO one by one! Is there a limit att group number above 253 or is the Multiple QSO Operations/Set Group number not prepared for operations from 254 and up? Anyone out there using MMTTY within DX4WIN with their 5000? Trying to get it set up so that I can key the radio in the MMTTY window in DX4WIN without toggling the TX and TXOFF in the RTTY control panel for MMTTY. Hope I am not confusing anyone to much. In the 8.01 Release Notes is the line: The number of groups that can be used is unlimited. I think Allan has a valid complaint. [Dx4win] Another Number Limit
I use the scanner feature once in awhile, for example, during the VP8ORK expedition when the expeditioners list on their website certain frequencies on rarely open bands like 10 12 meters. I scan them and I can usually get my call in before the packet spots draw a crowd or the signals fade (which was in seconds when I made the 10m cw contact). However, in some instances I'd like to set the scanner timing to more than 60 seconds. But, I get the same error as hi group numbers whenever I try. I like to use longer scanning times, greater than one minute, to 'stare' at frequencies that are subject to fading. Also, it keeps my SteppIR from stepping too frequently for my liking. The scanner also locked up the PC when the monitor power saver activated. I had to deactivate it in windows XP. The scanner is a nice feature, and it really ought to be looked at for potential enhancement in other ways suitable for DXing. For example, you can't use other DX4WIN windows at the same time, such as packet. Also MMTTY is not accessible while scanning - which is a handicap if you want to look at rtty or other digital mode signals. Re: [Dx4win] 7Z1 (Saudi Arabia) doesn't show in New CTY file
Jim, et.al Tnx for emails Just checked my Preferences. Worked Cutoff and Mailed Cutoff were already set to 0, User Level is set to Expert My 160m CW QSO with 7Z1SJ was in 15th January 2011. If I go to Reports|Report Generator|DXCC Listing, I only found 7X Algeria and 8P Barbados in the Prefix column. Nothing on 7Z between those two prefixes. But, in Summary, I found the call as Worked. I am I doing wrong in putting the new CTY files? Hi Jo, I just got back from holiday. When did you make the QSO with 7Z1SJ? Please check your preferences, Worked Cutoff and Mailed Cutoff. Make sure both are set to 0. This sets the number of days that something will be considered as worked. If older than that, it is as if you never made the QSO at all. Some people like their DXCC needed list to always be considered NEEDED (never worked) if a QSL has not been received in a very long time. 73 - Jim AD1C -- Jim Reisert AD1C, jjreis...@alum.mit.edu, http://www.ad1c.us __ Dx4win mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/dx4win Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:Dx4win@mailman.qth.net This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html

That is because the Label flag is set for this QSO (I am looking at Jo's log). The order of priority is: - unworked - worked - label - mailed - confirmed - submitted - checked The Label and LoTW fields are both set to Y in the QSO entry for 7Z1SJ (and many more QSOs). Use the F5 key a few times in the QSO window until you see those fields. It appears that you set the Label flags for EVERY new QSO you log, starting some time in July 2010. If you want to change this, go to Preferences, then on the QSO tab, uncheck the box next to QSL in the Label/Upl Flag field of the preferences. 73 - Jim AD1C -- Jim Reisert AD1C, jjreis...@alum.mit.edu, http://www.ad1c.us __ Dx4win mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/dx4win Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:Dx4win@mailman.qth.net This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html
