Re: [Dx4win] loss of qsl dates

2013-07-17 Thread Dave Perry, N4QS
Steve,

I wonder if you inadvertently hit the Clear QSL Date function under the QSLs
pull down menu. It can happen to the best of us. I do a daily backup for
just those sort of events.

Subject: [Dx4win] loss of qsl dates

I recently discovered that all my QSL dates were missing from my log. The
computer that the log is on sometimes reboots by itself so I don't know if
there is any correlation.

I discovered the missing data when some QSL cards arrived and I attempted to
enter the data into the program. I noticed that there was no QSL dates that
represented the dates I sent the QSL cards to the other hams. I entered
the date of April 20, 2013 as an approximate sending date as I did a large
batch of cards around that time. At first, I figured that I missed a few
dates in the log, but checking on the LOG display, I noticed that there were
no dates going back to my first entries in 1957 except my April 20th dates.

Any ideas ?

I do have a back-up done 6 months ago, but I don't know how I would only
enter the QSL dates and not affect any other data.

Is this an unusual event to lose all the data in one field throughout the
program?

[Dx4win] flying horse callbook

2013-07-17 Thread Steve K7AWB
So the Flying Horse works with DX4WIN, but the Buckmaster doesn't? Why is
that? So if I buy the flying horse disk, and put it on my hard drive, and
go to DX4WIN and go to Preferences and EXT Data, and put chose the Flying
Horse from the Data Source, everything will work well? What will it do for
me? I would like the listed grid, city, state populated in the log form if
possible to save me time.

I received a 2013 Summer Flying Horse Callbook today on a
USB Thumb Drive. It is formatted the same as the CD type
and works great with DX4WIN.
It is so much better than the CD version in that a F3 inquiry is
instantaneous. No waiting for the idle CD to spin up and seek.
Also freed up my CD/DVD drive.

It is from Radio Amateur Callbook with the proper logo...

I got mine from Duane Heise, AA6EE
aa...@cox.net
He is an official ARRL dealer.

I sure they are also available at www.callbook.biz
The home of the Callbook

Art, if you install the Radio Amateur Callbook to your hard drive,
you'll see access even faster than from the thumb drive.
