Re: [Dx4win] DX4WIN Digest, Vol 111, Issue 32

2013-07-30 Thread Michael W. Babb
I just upgraded to 8.05 from 7.07, foolishly thinking I would get logging
support for JT9. All i got instead is a more complicated LOTW procedure and a
bunch of eQSL crap I couldn't care less about.

What a waste of $30.

Maybe some of that money will go toward worthwhile improvements to the program.

DX4WIN is still lagging way behind on keeping up with the newer digital
modes and the signal reports used. Very poor when it comes to logging
JT65-HF and the signal reports sent/received and it does not know about JT9
 yet for example. :-(

Agree with Jim. Dx4win should leave some duties to other free software as
clusters to ve7cc, rig control to omnirig, lotw to tqsl, erc for rotators
control, jt65 for strange digi, msstv for sstv, digipan for psk, etc. but
these programs should be integrated with dx4win as mmtty already is.
What's better running dx4win and while it opens, will load ve7cc
connecting to clusters automatically, load also omnirig to have cat
control for all new radios, sdr, etc and when I want to ulpoad my qsos to
Lotw, press a button and voila... I think the most clever solution today
is to make a program which links all wonderful free programs out there.

Erkki, I think the VE7CC user program can take care of many of these.
I personally would rather that DX4WIN be an excellent logging and
award tracking program first, rather than trying to do everything and
not do a good job at anything.

 Hi Jim and all,
as mentioned a few times, I think there is a lot of room for improvement for
qsl management like make an easy set up for flag first mode/band contacts etc.

[Dx4win] Band Map

2013-07-30 Thread Hal Kennedy
Is it me - if it is maybe someone can give me the missing tip. I have
never been able to get the band map to successfully track the radio
other than intermittently. For some reason it seems worse on six
meters?? This is with two different rigs. Sometimes it tracks,
sometimes it doesn't, for no apparent external reason.

All help welcome..

Hi Hal,

I don't use the band map that often. My recollection is that 12m and
higher (i.e. 10m and 6m) don't track properly, lower frequencies are
OK. Maybe if you say what radio you have, there will be more input.

Re: [Dx4win] Band Map

2013-07-30 Thread Dave Perry, N4QS
Hal,

FWIW, I have never noticed any problems with the Band Map following my K3 --
even on 6 meters. I assume that you have checked Follow the Radio in the
lower right corner of the band map window. When that little box is checked,
the band map should follow the radio. It works similar to the band map in
N1MM.
