[Dx4win] Converting DXQ to ADIF Files

2014-02-04 Thread Dick Flanagan
Is anyone aware of a utility that will take a DXL file containing Rx=
entries in the NOTES: field and convert those entries into
FREQ_RX:fieldsin the resulting ADIF file? The ideal utility would then
remove the Rx= entries while allowing any other NOTES: entries to remain
and convert any kHz entries to MHz.

This would probably be easier to do in a unix shell script, but those
days are far behind me. :)

Sometimes I use partial calls with *, i.e. FT* instead of FT5ZM. That
example saves two characters.

You could have a problem with the prefs file, depending on your OS. When
I ran XP, if I didn't have my USB/COM adapter connected, the program
would hang/crash when I opened it. With Win7, it just informs me of the
error and I can still open DW4WIN.

Re: [Dx4win] Converting DXQ to ADIF Files

2014-02-04 Thread Dick Flanagan

Hi, Paul.

I apologize for not being clear. I already have correctly populated
FREQ fields and "Rx=nn,nnnkHz"-populated NOTES fields. When converting
a typical QSO to ADIF, these will result in "tt.t" for
transmit frequencies and "Rx=rr,rrrkHz" for receive
frequencies. These NOTES fields are not ADIF-compliant for receive
frequencies.

The proper ADIF format for the above receive frequency should be
"rr.r" Let me give a sample from my log:

19990109 163900 AB7WZ 1 4.26000
AB7 291 NA SSB 80m 59
59 3 NV N Y
20030923 Bob
Rx=14,255kHz Nevada ARES Net

The entry, paying attention to the last line, should be:

19990109 163900 AB7WZ 14.26000
AB7 291 NA SSB 80m 59
59 3 NV N Y
20030923 Bob
14.25500 Nevada ARES Net

I am looking for a utility that will convert the first entry to the
second so I can transfer it to an ADIF-compliant application. I hope I
have done a better job explaining what I am looking for.

Re: [Dx4win] Converting DXQ to ADIF Files

2014-02-04 Thread John Shaw

You could do something like this in notepad using edit/replace. Put
Rx=14, in the find what box and 14. in the replace box.
If there are different bands and the number up to the comma and total number
of characters changes then you will have to repeat the process with the
appropriate characters in the edit/replace boxes for each band. Its
actually not hard to do.
