This is something that changed in LoTW in the last 6 months or so. After every import, I always search for Import: in the "Notes for this QSO" field. If I run across the situation described above, I simply erase the State field in the QSO (and save it using F10) and all returns to normal. I hope Paul can fix this in a future version of DX4WIN, i.e. qualify filling in the State field with the DXCC entity. 73 - Jim AD1C -- Jim Reisert AD1C, , http://www.ad1c.us __ DX4WIN mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/dx4win Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:DX4WIN@mailman.qth.net This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html
[Dx4win] LotW import problem
Hi, Paul and the group. I just noticed an unusual problem while importing LotW QSOs into the log. When a Russian station has its Oblast set in the LotW QSO details that matches an abbreviation of a US state, the state flag for that particular QSO in DX4Win gets changed from blank to the state matching the abbreviation and, in addition, the zone of the station changes to the zone matching the state. For example: RX3APM lists its Oblast as Moscow (abbreviation MA). DX4Win imports this QSO ADIF field as State (see below), then promptly updates the QSO with the Massachusetts entry in the state field and changes the zone from 16 to 5. This seems to happen for all Oblast abbreviations that correspond to the US state abbreviations, like MO for Moscow Region, OR for Orel, MA for Moscow, etc. When the abbreviation for an Oblast does not match any US states (such as PK for Primorsk), it is ignored and no change is made to the QSO. Furthermore, this occurs when the "Include QSL detail" box is checked before downloading the report. The DX4Win Import setting of "Show QSO information and ask" does not apply here because it seems to check only for prefix and zone differences. Is anyone aware of this problem or is there something I'm missing in the import procedure? My version is 8.05 and I use LotW -> Import from LotW to import, not Import/Export option. Before you say it, yes, I am aware that importing just basic ADIF data from LotW (i.e. no station details like Oblast, Grid, IOTA, etc) would not cause that problem, but that is not a solution. Please let me know if this is on a radar and what the fix would be. Thanks, Zoran WA7AA Here's the ADIF entry for this example === WA7AA WA7AA RX3APM 40M 7.02304 CW CW 20101128 002112 Y 20110114 54 EUROPEAN RUSSIA Current RX3 Y 16 29 MA __ DX4WIN mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/dx4win Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:DX4WIN@mailman.qth.net This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html
Re: [Dx4win] DX4WIN Digest, Vol 129, Issue 6
Hello Isidro - Try saving your log in a "My Documents" folder. I have been doing this for years, and it works very well because the log gets saved to my backup along with all of the other documents. It worked fine in WinXP and works with Win7; it should work with Win8 as well. A friend of mine, also a DX4WIN v8.05 user, has just installed it in his new laptop with Windows 8.1. As suggested by instal program, he installed it in c:\dx4win805. Now, each time he tries to save the log file (either typing Alt-S or going to File > Save), he gets this message: An exception occurred! Unable to create directory [ok] But the file is saved correctly. My friend re-installed the program in c:\program files\dx4win805. Now, no error message appears, but, he noted that the log file is no longer stored in the save folder, but in: c:\users\{username}\appdata\local\virtualstore\program files\dx4win805\save Question: Is there a way to disable the above error messages when installing DX4WIN in root directory, or to save the data files in the DX4WIN's own save folder, not in "c:\users\{username}\local..."? __ DX4WIN mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/dx4win Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:DX4WIN@mailman.qth.net This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html
