Re: [Dx4win] Omitting IOTA info in spots
Alan, I can think of several reasons that I routinely want to delete IOTA data from the spot. First, I often do it when I get the red highlighted warning that the text of the spot is too long. Second, I often want to send a custom message in the text and need more space. Third, I am often in a hurry spotting a big run of G's, for example, but I don't see a big reason to include the IOTA for EU005. Same with most of the other common IOTAs. But yes, you are right in that I may want to occasionally include the IOTA for a rare station, but not very often. When I do, I would like to check the box, but 99% of the time the box should be unchecked. That why I believe that Kostas and David are correct in wanting the default setting for Control-A to be IOTA set for off. Makes no sense to have the default set to on. I wish Paul would change this, or at least let this be a user choice. But merely setting the default to off would be the simplest approach. 73, Dave, N4QS -Original Message- From: dx4win-boun...@mailman.qth.net On Behalf Of Alan Zack Sent: Tuesday, January 25, 2022 10:27 PM To: 'David Raymond' Cc: DX4WIN Group Subject: Re: [Dx4win] Omitting IOTA info in spots Just curious why would you want to delete the IOTA info? Re: [Dx4win] Omitting IOTA info in spots
When you press ALT+A to announce a dx spot you can uncheck the iota field below and these infos will disappear. Unfortunately there is not an option to have this unchecked by default and you need to do it every time. You have right that it is not good to spot something wrong and if you are not an iota chaser, you will not know the right info. About QSX problem: I see it sometimes. I don't think it is so usual but it happens from time to time. I don't know why it happens. Maybe the rig driver? I use a yaesu ft 1000mp mark v field. 73 Kostas SV1DPI Στις 26/1/2022 18:38, ο/η Tim moore έγραψε: I will say I too am curious how to NOT spot the IOTA info. Of course I guess the bigger question is WHYdoes my DX4WIN sometimes.about a fourth of the time.want to spot some ridiculous QSX second split freq when I'm not working split (and again, a QSX freq that is really bizarre and makes no sensenot something like 5 khz up for voice or 1 khz up for cw.but stuff like oddball freqs like the 18.137.01 in my example above!). But I suppose I should be asking that question in a separate post of its own.
