Re: [Dx4win] QRZ and dx4win

2023-03-07 Thread Tim moore
OK, I have just been reminded of one more thing I forgot to mention!

At the VERY top of the Ext Data window. I assumed everyone using QRZ would
have that selectedbut that was a bad assumption on my part.
So...

Last stepGo back into preferences. Ext Data. VERY TOP WINDOW.then
choose "QRZ ONLINE" from the drop down menu. And for Data Directory, put
"D:\"

I can see why folks have issues sometimes getting that working! Ok, I'm
done nowhonest..I promise!

Hello Jim,

There is no Cabrillo conversion built in to dx4win; that is something only used
for contests. There are a few available on line that should work:

And I should have mentionedenter those two URLs I listed JUST
EXACTLY.as I have them listed. Do NOT change ANY of the URL.put
them in exactly as I typed them in that email. They'll get the right
information for things like "Username", " Password", "Callsign", etc.

And, wouldn't you know itI missed ONE OTHER THING.

RIght ABOVE this info, is ANOTHER area in the Ext Data called "Website
Callsign Lookup". It needs to be configured as such:

*ENABLED* checked
*ADDRESS *- http://www.qrz.com/db/

Sorry I forgot that initially

Re: [Dx4win] QRZ and dx4win

2023-03-07 Thread Tim moore
One more detail:

Hitting JUST F3.when in the QSO window, brings up the pop-up (with the
information on the current showing callsignIFyou are an XML
subscriber on QRZ).
Hitting ALT F3 .will do ALL the following: Open your default
browser (if it isn't already open), bring up the QRZ websiteANDtake
you to the QRZ page of the callsign in the QSO window when you hit this
combination.

Of course, for ALL of these things to happen in this detail listed above
assumes:

1. You're a QRZ XML subscriber
2. You have it configured correctly in the File>Preferences>Ext Data
windowunder "Online Callsign Lookup" down at the bottom of that window.
MANY have had issues with getting that config correct. It goes like this:

*Under Online Callsign Lookup*

*Enabled* is *checked *(of course, it has to be on)
*Initial Callsign Lookup Address* -
http://xmldata.qrz.com/xml/current/?username=[USERNAME];password=[PASSWORD];agent=[PROGRAM]
*Callsign Lookup Address* -
http://xmldata.qrz.com/xml/current/?s=[SESSIONID];callsign=[CALLSIGN]
*User Info* - (enter *YOUR callsign* that you use to log onto QRZ)
*Password *- (enter *YOUR password* you use to log onto QRZ)

Please reply/all if you want to reply to Steve. He is having problems posting
to the DX4WIN reflector.

Also If anyone knows how to turn off formatted messages in Microsoft "Mail for
Windows", in order to send only plain-text messages, please let him know.

I see that QRZ.com has a $30 or so subscription to meld its data with some
logging programs. Does it work with DX4WIN? If so, what details do you see
and how do you turn it on when needed? Is it successful in its application for
the QRZ.com yearly fee?

Re: [Dx4win] QRZ and dx4win

2023-03-07 Thread Tim moore
I also subscribe to QRZ and have used DX4WIN for decades. As already
mentioned, it works. I hit F3 and when the pop-up window with all the
information of the station I'm working displays, I hit the "update QSO"
button in that pop-up window and it grabs the information and populates the
QSO window with it for me. Granted, it doesn't put the full address in,
just QSO type infostate or country, county, grid square, first
nameetc. But the full address as already mentioned is in the pop-up
window.

Re: [Dx4win] QRZ and dx4win

2023-03-07 Thread Mike Cizek W0VTT
Hello Steve,

I use the callsign Lookup (F3) feature on QRZ regularly when sending out QSL
cards. Typing F3 opens up a small window with the station's name and address.
Copy and paste the address into a label or envelope printing program (I use MS
Word). Personally, I find QRZ to be a very useful tool and think it is well
worth the subscription price.

[Dx4win] Problem with controlling an Orion II

2023-03-07 Thread Ernie

I have an O II that has worked great for years with DX4WIN.  I recently
had to reload it and now i cant get it to work.  The same setup works
with N1MM logger.  I'm using the same settings in both soft wares.

baud 57600

bits 8

stop bits 1

polling 5000

max tries 6

dtr on

rts on I have tried all combinations of DTR and RTS

The Orion_x driver does not work at all while the Orion driver seems
slow and will not change modes.  I'm using a serial to usb converter
cable.  Anybody have any ideas?
