[Dx4win] Problems with v6.02 CW on LPT1 under XP

2003-06-01 Thread <[EMAIL PROTECTED] (VA3MW - Port Credit)
Dave

I suspect that you will need to install userport
(http://www.embeddedtronics.com/design&ideas.html), as the LPT port is under
control of the OS in XP.

Subject: [Dx4win] Problems with v6.02 CW on LPT1 under XP

Hey Folks

Several weeks ago I purchased the upgrade to v6.02. I have just now gotten
around to installing it on my IBM T600X Laptop running Windows XP.

All appears to be fine, however I am not able to use LPT1 for CW Keying as I
could with Win 2K.

When v6.02 starts I get a dialog box that says:

Cannot find LPT1 for keying

But XP reports the port to be working correctly.

This machine has never had any previous versions of DX4WIN installed on it.
I don't know if that makes any difference or not.

Any ideas? Anyone running v6.02 on XP and using the Parallel port for
CW?

73,

Dave, N1PC

[Dx4win] DX4Win TCP entries

2003-05-04 Thread <[EMAIL PROTECTED] (VA3MW - Port Credit)
Does anyone have a current list of valid TCP addresses that work?

I went through the entire list that comes with V5.03, and the only one that
works is mine

(va3mw.homeip.net:41112).

I'd like to update my list. Is the one with V6 any more current?

If you provide me an entry with your favourite, I'll compile it and ask Paul
to include it on the Web site.

Many thanks.. Mike VA3MW

Thanks for the info.

I use my own node all the time (except for today when I have an internal
house routing issue don't ask).

[Dx4win] Kenwood TS-690S

2003-05-25 Thread <[EMAIL PROTECTED] (VA3MW - Port Credit)
Bob

It should be pretty straight forward. You can use TS-450 as well. Sounds
like there might be a problem with the interface, so you might want to try
some other software.

Make sure the baud rates match (if I remember Kenwood is fixed at 4800 baud
something like N82).

You should be able to open something like Hyperterminal, set it up on the
com port for the radio at 4800 and move the VFO. At that point, data should
flow across the screen.

[Dx4win] Kenwood TS-690S

2003-05-26 Thread <[EMAIL PROTECTED] (VA3MW - Port Credit)
Bob

Select the radio as Kenwood, and the baud rate should be fixed at 4800.

Ensure that DTR and RTS are high, as they likely provide the power to your
level converter. I highly suspect that this is your problem.

Make sure that it is the correct com port that the radio is connected to (ie
Com 1).

[Dx4win] DX4WIN going out?

2004-04-14 Thread <[EMAIL PROTECTED] (VA3MW - Port Credit)
True, but the differences are that N1MM is a contest program and DX4Win is a
logging program that tracks awards, countries, etc. N1MM clearly outlines
that on his web page.

You have to use the right tool for the job. ;)

[Dx4win] Automatic Antenna Switching

2004-02-03 Thread <[EMAIL PROTECTED] (VA3MW - Port Credit)
All

I want to automate my IC-756PRO's antenna switching with DX4Win. I know
this is a bit off topic, but I'm looking for some recommendations for
antenna switches.

I would prefer to use the Band Switching data on the IC-756 to drive the
antenna switch, although I will use the computer as a second choice.

I'm looking for suggestions on what devices are available to use. Web links
would be great.

thanks, Mike VA3MW

[Dx4win] Share rig COM port between Writelog and DX4WIN?

2004-02-06 Thread <[EMAIL PROTECTED] (VA3MW - Port Credit)
Jim

I doubt it, however

You might be able to split the data coming out of the IC-756 and then feed
that to 2 level converters and use 2 unique com ports.

I've never tried it, but it may be worth attempting.

[Dx4win] Voice Alerts

2004-01-20 Thread <[EMAIL PROTECTED] (VA3MW - Port Credit)
Sorry if this has been asked before, but is there anyway to do the
following:

Alert for new band/mode from the cluster for DXCC (this is normal, it does
it now)
As well, do voice alerts for VHF (ie: 6M/2M) regardless of current log book
status. In this case, your tracking VUCC. I just really want to know if 6M
is open.

I could set a filter in the cluster to only announce VHF spots and then have
DX4Win announce all spots, but it would be nice to be able to do both.

[Dx4win] Telnet 6.02

2004-03-23 Thread <[EMAIL PROTECTED] (VA3MW - Port Credit)
Bob

Can you confirm a couple of things.

Attempting to access the same site works on WriteLog but fails on DX4Win?

Are the entries correct in the dx4win table? ie: no typos

Can you access my site? VA3MW? It should be in the DX4Win list

VA3MW>Mississauga-ON,va3mw.homeip.net:41112

Can you access/telnet to any other cluster?
