Re: [Dx4win] What is the future of DX4WIN?

2023-11-21 Thread Christian Janssen DL1MGB
Hi all,

DX4WIN is also (almost) perfect for my needs. Sure, would love to have this or
that little neat feature, but these are also not available from other logging
programms.

And one thing I like very much with DX4WIN that developers don't feel the need
to implement EVERY feature EVERY user wants to have. So it remains a compact
software with no glitches or running errors or data losses. And the UI stays
the same I have adopted over the years. There is nothing worse when each second
version comes in a complete new UI and you have to rearrange it as you are used
to.

Many thanks for the good work so far!

Hi Jim,

I didn't import/export the log when changing to the new version. I just made a
backup and continued working with the same DXL file.

Re: [Dx4win] Export filters

2021-09-04 Thread Christian Janssen DL1MGB
In parallel, when trying to edit a new filter, the version 9.09 filter edit
seems to be a bit buggy.

When entering a callsign with position 1 and length 20, it creates the callsign
starting with column 2. There is no way to start at 1. OK, let's start at 2.
Then entering the band, starting at 23, length 3. When clikcing insert, band
starts at 24 because the start of callsign was shifted to 3. Guess what when
entering time...yes time starts not at 39, but at 40 and all the above field
were shifted +1.

and so on and so on...

Unfortunately, not useable. Or do I have to do anything to get it working? I
normally assume that the software is not buggy, but I am too stupid to use it
:-)

[Dx4win] DOK in version 9.09

2021-09-04 Thread Christian Janssen DL1MGB
Hi all,

I wonder what happened here. In earlier versions, the DOK was saved as "DOK".
Now it is saved as "DLD".

See attached screenshot. The QSO of 29.01.2011 has DOK / S50. Bit nothing is
shown in the QSO data window. Is there anything I have to take care of not to
loose data because of this inconsistency?

Many thanks.

Hi Jerry,

I was not talking about QSO numbers by country. That was always interpreted by
others. I was just talking by plain QSO numbers. Or number of QSOs. Or how you
want to call it.

To make it clearer, I have added a screenshot from DXlog, a common contest
logging software.

Unfortunately, Jim is correct. And it seems there is no way to get the QSO
numbers by band/mode out of DX4WIN. In my eyes a very basic feature and
regarding database query a feature very simple to realise.

I don't know about other logbook programs if they have this feature. At least
every contest logging software has this built in.

Maybe there is a chance to add this feature in any future version.

Hi John and others,

many thanks for your feedback. But to be honest, after reading your description
I wasn't sure if I was on the right mailing list ;-) I just can't follow your
steps in DX4WIN.

Maybe I was not clear enough about the QSO statistics I am looking for. What I
am looking for is a table like this:

  CW SSB RTTY ...
160Totals per band
80
40
30
20
17
...

  Totals per mode Total overall

And calculated for all QSOs in the log. Not DXCC or other award programms. Just
plain QSO numbers.

[Dx4win] QSO statistics

2021-02-14 Thread Christian Janssen DL1MGB
Hi all,

I have been using DX4WIN for quite some years now. But what I still haven't
found is an easy way to get QSO statistics like QSOs on band/mode in one table
without exporting all the log and importing it into another software.

Is there any hidden feature I haven't found so far or is it just not there?

Many thanks.

Re: [Dx4win] Filter settings V8 > V9

Hi Jim,

unfortunately not. And no matter which log I opened in the version 8, it always
showed the export filters. So it must be stored somewhere else.

[Dx4win] Filter settings V8 > V9

2020-09-19 Thread Christian Janssen
Hi,

I am pretty new to Version 9 after several years staying with V8. Is there a
chance to copy the filter settings I created over the years from Version 8 to
Version 9?
