[Dx4win] 30 meter DX spot - wrong mode
Whenever I click on DX spot for something on 30 meters, the radio goes to 30 meters just fine, but it's being put into USB. This doesn't happen on any other band that I've noticed so far, just 30 meters. I'm using v8.05 and a Kenwood TS-2000 radio. __ DX4WIN mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/dx4win Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:DX4WIN@mailman.qth.net This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html

I recently built a new desktop computer and installed Windows 7, 64 bit version. I save the entire DX4WIN directory from the old computer onto a backup drive. I was running v7. [Dx4win] LOTW question
I've just started using LOTW, so please forgive me if this is a stupid question. It dang sure wouldn't be my first. I see in the DX4WIN help (yes, I actually read it!) that I'm supposed to be able to track confirmed via LOTW and confirmed by actual card separately. Now, I know I can set the confirmed flag in the QSO window to use either confirmed via card, confirmed via upload, or confirmed via either one. Here's what I'm confused about. Even though a QSO might be confirmed via LOTW, I'd still like to get an actual card. How do I track those separately? Is there a way I could show that a QSO had been confirmed via LOTW but has not received an actual card yet? __ Dx4win mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/dx4win Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:Dx4win@mailman.qth.net This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html

[Dx4win] Radio Amateur Callbook going out of business
I got this e-mail a few days ago : The end of the line for Radio Amateur Callbook: Radio Amateur Callbook is throwing in the towel and will cease publication of its CD-ROM Callbook product effective with its winter 2003 edition, which will come out in November. Due to accessibility to the FCC database via the Internet, sales have declined to levels that make it unprofitable to publish future editions, publisher Bob Hughes announced in a recent news release. In 1997, citing rising costs and increasing demand for electronic publishing the company phased out its telephone-book-size paper North American and international editions in favor of its CD-ROM product. The 1997 Callbook--the 75th edition--was the last hard-copy version available. The Callbook began publishing in 1920. - David, W4HPW -- Flying is of the Spirit. [Dx4win] Upgrading to XP?
Is it best for me to upgrade (no cost to me), or should I stick with 98? What does XP give me that 98 does not have? I have Dx4win loaded although I have yet to put it to use. Thanks for the bandwidth 73 Terry KF4FD No cost? Must be nice!! I have XP on the laptop and '98 on the desktop. From my experience, which may nor may be anybody else's, XP seems more stable and less crash-prone than '98, and I plan to upgrade the desktop to XP when finances permit. I run MS Office 2000 on both platforms with no problem. As far as what XP gives you, I think it depends a lot of what you use your computers for. XP has more multimedia stuff built in, but that may not matter to you. If you were paying for the XP, I'd say that unless you had a compelling need to upgrade and everything is working fine, stay with what you have. Don't fix it if it ain't broke! But, since you can do the upgrade for free, what have you got to lose? [Dx4win] WAZ award question
I worked and received the QSL card for VE3EXY/2 awhile back to get Zone 2, the last Zone I needed for WAZ. However, the WAZ listing report doesn't show that I have Zone 2, even though the VE3EXY/2 contact shows zone 2, and I definitely have it marked as confirmed. The WAZ summary also shows 39 zones confirmed instead of 40 as it should be. Since DX4WIN thinks I only have 39 zones confirmed, it won't do a WAZ submission. [Dx4win] Access Violation using RTTY to KAM
John, I don't know if this is the same problem or not, but I was getting a similar error using my MFJ-1278B in RTTY from the RTTY window today. I had my RTTY window set up before to use TCP/IP and I was getting spots from OH2AQ. As a result, I had the options Check for DX spots and Announce DX to other window enabled. I had the packetcluster running with TCP/IP in the RTTY window with no problems. The KAM works fine on RTTY with TERMINAL.EXE on COM1. I'm a programmer and quite familiar with Windows of all ilks and am stumped. Looks like a code bug, but why now? I operated the RTTY contest for hours last month with no problems... Speaking of bugs, there is one which affects the Packet Window. If you maximize it, issue a command, then restore it to window size, the input area is messed up -- you can't get your TNC to respond. To fix it you have to maximize it again, position the cursor somewhere towards the bottom of the input area, Enter, then restore the window. Actually, when only one line is displayed in the input area, and you maximize the window, you should still only have one line in the input area, but you have many. Not a high priority, I guess.
