Re: [Dx4win] Fwd: WSJT to DX4WIN
Possibly this can be done in JTAlert. This program will transfer FT8 QSO's to Ham Radio Deluxe and other logging programs. [Dx4win] Glitch when printing QSL labels
With the latest version of DX4WIN 9 (version 9.04.1176) I experienced a glitch when printing QSL labels that has never occurred before. When processing QSL card responses, I set the label print function to "Y". After completing a batch of cards, when I go to Print the Labels, it tells me that there are no or only a few labels to print. If I exit and open the software again, the number of QSL cards to be printed are then correctly indicated. I am not sure if this is a software glitch as it has never happened with previous version of DX4WIN 9. Great. I have been a loyal user of DX4Win from the early days and still use it to keep track of the logs for my two stations, contests and Dxpeditions. BUT WHEN THE LOG WAS NOT CORRECT (WAS and COUNTY problem) I NOTICED THE FOLLOWING ERROR. Looking to my total I saw that there were 339 DXCC ??? and it should have been 338. My guess is that or I was to quick and dxcc ?ZZZ not completed etc? got in by mistake or something else caused this behavior. Deleting ZZZ doesn?t correct the missing states and counties. So for All those that are interested or having the problems like some Of us do pse check if your current DXCC = 338 when FJ is added. If it is higher you have the ZZZ country and should delete it. I will call Paul later and ask him about it. Only one thing left to say is -- BACKUP BACKUP BACKUP -- Daily Then you can correct problems without to much work. There are free remote backup sites, I use Mozy Remote Backup Only for DX4WIN (free space is upto 2Gb) and Norton Ghost is scheduled 3 times a day in different directories. I copied it also to Jim, since he knows a lot about these things ! * Hi All I was about to reply to Hamad, and now see the note from Guy. 1) From Hamad's first problem, you should be able to export from your backup log IN DX4WIN format; and all county data is preserved. You should then be able to import it into your main log IN DX4WIN format; and set imported date to replace log data; and hopefully all is ok.I have done this on my PC, and it works ok. 2) I also had a few problems creating FJ since the program is not intuitive in this regard. However, I never saw this corrupted country stuff happening. I have set the new FJ on 2 PC's; both are working fine. 3) Or I thought they were ! FJ is terminated correctly in FS in the country file. FJ is created OK in the Country file. However; I tried a fictitious call of FJ/OH2BH and also FJ5KH. Both show up as France !!! If I manually change them to FJ in the log, then that call is mapped to FJ correctly in the country file. Looks to me that an exception needs to be created also for France , to make all FJ's appear correctly ??? I run V7.03.016 under Windows XP on both PC's. 73's Dave G3NKC -Original Message- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Behalf Of ON4AOI Sent: 26 December 2007 13:50 To: 'Hamad 9K2HN' Cc: dx4win@mailman.qth.net Subject: [Dx4win] PROBLEMS with STATES and COUNTIES in dx4win log Hi Hamad and others , I was following this problem from Prague (OK) When ON4ATW started this thread, The only thing I couldn?t do was replying on the mails. My guess is the ADD of FJ that is causing the problem, like Theo mentioned After the upgrade K resulted in "NETHERLANDS NEW GUINEA" instead of UNITED STATES. Restarting DX4WIN and all was OK except the missing States and Counties. SO FOR ALL USERS KEEP A GOOD BACKUP SAFELY SOMEWHERE FROM BEFORE THE LAST CHANGES (ADD OF FJ, LOTW) In the meantime I start digging again to find out what caused this problem. [Dx4win] COM Port
This is a common problem that I am finding with the new USB Digital Hardware devices such as "Rig Expert SD" and "Rig Blaster's new Plug and Play". I have been testing both units; the Rig Expert for the past month (purchased at Dayton) and the Plug and Play since it arrived on Thursday. New Laptop computers do not have Com ports, just USB ports. These new Hardware devices allow you to have one USB cable to control both Rig Control (CIV or Cat) and PTT. They use a USB to Serial converter software, but share the same Com port for both Rig Control and PTT. The problem is that common Ham software such as Dx4win, Writelog, MTTY, etc. require separate Rig Control and PTT Com ports. So you get conflicts. With Dx4win, I can get the both units to recognize the Rig Control, but when I set up PTT for PSK or RTTY, they give me conflicts including the "Blue Screen of Death". Either the Hardware companies need to change how these devices convert USB to Com Ports, or radios that have USB ports, or the software companies such as Dx4win, etc. need to re-write the software for these new devices. It's a Chicken and Egg thing between the Hardware and Software people. My system is Windows XP, plenty of memory and Icom 756pro. I will keep trying and talking to the Hardware and Software vendors. If I come up with a solution, I will post it. So far my only way to get these to work is separate cables for Rig Control and PTT. If anyone has a solution... I am very open to testing and figuring this out. So far I have searched the web, tried multiple User groups all with the same response asking for help too.
