You probably already know that you can translate the document to English at

I got the info I needed, thanks all. I wanted to make sure I had the
correct CQ zone assignments for the RI prefixes, as I've been doing a
lot of "automating" of Russian prefix generation in the last week.
I'm trying to get rid of some of my error-prone, hand-generated prefix
lists.

Re: [Dx4win] Printers

2009-11-17 Thread Jerry Plemmons
So use labels from Staples until you use up your stock on hand. There is a
cost to buy labels, but then "print your own" QSL cards on virgin stock
sucks up a LOT of expensive printer ink. "Where's the trade off?" would be
my question.

My HP Officejet Pro K550's paper tray holds about 90 of my cards.

Re: [Dx4win] Printers

2009-11-17 Thread Jerry Plemmons
Mel:

Are you asking about printing the entire QSL card from blank stock, or
printing data into pre-printed boxes on the front or back of a pre-printed
QSL card?

I can do it easily fill in the boxes on my HP Officejet Pro K550 printer.
The paper tray easily adjusts to hold and feed the pre-printed QSL cards.
Very nice because you have full control of the font(s) used, their size,
color, etc. The printer seems to have no trouble feeding the QSL size
cards.

However, you need to have a program that will let you format to the location
of the boxes to print on the card, and also import the QSL data to fill in
the boxes. These two things may take time.

Re: [Dx4win] Filtered Log

2009-10-30 Thread Jerry Plemmons
Mel and Tom:

Thanks for the prompt responses. I did something wrong in trying to print
a range of dates (the CQWWDX2009SSB contest) QSOs. I used the filter
command to separate them out, then printed. But I didn't use F9 to cancel
the filter, although using the drop down I did cancel the filter there. Lo
and behold, the contest QSOs had disappeared, not to be found again. I
tried your suggestions, but couldn't find it. So I just gritted my teeth
and re-entered the 240 contacts (from the printed pages). Some day I'll
play with it again to see what I did wrong, but this time with a "practice"
QSO file.

BTW, what is a file with the extension" ~xl " and how can I recover it?
Also, when I click on "Backup" from the drop down menu, where is that back
up file saved and what name is it given?

[Dx4win] Filtered Log

2009-10-28 Thread Jerry Plemmons
Hi guys and gals:

I worked the CQWWDX contest this past week-end using DX4WIN 8.02, as usual.
I wanted to print out the log for the two days so used the Filter function,
asking for the entries logged 10/24 and 10/25. All printed just fine.
The heading on the print out is:

"LogBook sorted by Date (Filter Active) October 27, 2009"

However.

Now the QSOs logged are no where to be found in my master log. What did I
do wrong?

In Rhode Island, true north is 16 degrees east of magnetic north. When
orienting a yagi or other directional antenna a correction needs to be made
when using a magnetic compass to find "North".

 More details, please.

Is this a system beep or voice announcement?

Do some spots work and others do not work? Does the station you're
interested in EVER get an announcement?

My understanding is that if a station is re-spotted on the same
band/mode, that spot is NOT announced unless the previous spot is
older than some time interval (which I don't remember). If you erase
all your spots, do you get the announcement (right-click on the DX
Spots window and select "Clear all spots" near the bottom.

Are you *sure* that the station you're interested in is being spotted
on a band/mode that you actually don't have confirmed (or worked,
depending on your preferences)? Is the spot for an award that you
have enabled for mixed, band and/or mode credit?
