[Dx4win] Export SWL Records

2006-03-14 Thread L. Sica
Hello group

Any way to export SWL records from DX4Win into a CSV, or an ADIF, or
something besides just making labels out of them?

Thanks to all

[Dx4win] MMTTY and DX4Win interface

2005-12-23 Thread L. Sica
Finally downloaded 7.0.1, and just waiting for my key. Now of course I'm
looking for instructions to set up the MMTTY and DX4Win interface. Is there
a link with that information I can check out?

[Dx4win] D4Win eats all CPU power!

2005-10-08 Thread L. Sica
Here's something to try

Disable the interface to your rig in DX4Win, and unplug your CI-V. My guess
is that that device has a problem, and DX4Win is going into a loop of some
sort trying to access it.

[Dx4win] What does the MMTTY interface get you?

2005-07-17 Thread L. Sica
I guess I don't quite understand what does having an interface to MMTTY
from DX4Win get you as opposed to just running a seperate RTTY translating
program (or having the output from a TNC piped into a terminal window for
that matter)?

Please explain to this thickheaded person.

This one has been on my gee-whiz-maybe-someday wish list for a while, too

2nd video card costs $10, and people are GIVING 14" monitors away. I run
VE3NEA's Hamscope and DXAtlas on the 2nd screen, with DX4Win taking up all
the screen-estate on the first one. Works very well. It'd be even better if
they worked automatically with each other (prefix lookup on the DXAtlas map
using DXAtlas's superb lookup, and even rotator control...)

[Dx4win] 6.03 usage report, suggestions for enhancement

2004-07-11 Thread L. Sica
Let me clarify a seperate window for *entering search criteria to browse
the log", and another seperate window to *add an entry to the log*. That way
you can have QSO details for your current QSO in one window, and a search
criteria for your existing log entries in another, so you don't loose the
QSO data you're entering if you want to search your logbook.

[Dx4win] 6.03 usage report, suggestions for enhancement

2004-07-11 Thread L. Sica
For bands like 10 meters, for signals right in the mud, a 30 degree
difference is noticable even on my 8 element LP. For larger monobanders, I'm
sure it more so. And besides, such detailed prefix info does exist, it'd be
nice to see it incorporated into DX4Win.

[Dx4win] 6.03 usage report, suggestions for enhancement

2004-07-10 Thread L. Sica
This message is being sent to the DX4Win reflector and to DX4Win support

Having used 6.0.3 for a bit now, I feel I can make some comments on it. By
far for the most part, it's a good update. Most of what I use of the new
features is the LOTW interfacing features. A little confusing (as has been
discussed on this reflector), but once you understand how to do it, not bad
at all. The DXCC submission now allowing for DXCC challenge submissions is a
plus, too.

DX4Win is the best DX logging program out there. Other programs are slow
(even making my Athlon XP 3000 box seem like it's struggling a bit), or are
SO FULL of things to adjust (I don't want to have to spend an hour adjusting
every font and every color on every window) or so full of "features"
(digital voice keyers, beacon tracking, etc) that they skimp on basic stuff
like DXCC awards submission or any sort of WAZ tracking at all. DX4Win is
fast, it has easy to read windows, and it covers the needs of a logging
program (data entry and reporting) very, very well.

After saying all that, my suggestions

1) A better list of rotator directions for prefixes:
For example. every time I enter a UA0 or UA9 call, DX4Win wants to rotate my
beam to 353 degrees. Problem is, a ham in Asiatic Russia might be at a
heading of anywhere from 325 to 25 degrees from here. A more detailed prefix
list (UA9A, UA9K, UA0Z, UA0Y, etc, etc) would provide a better bearing for
automatic rotator adjustment.

2) A date range and band filter on the "Change Award Flags" selection:
DXCC cards submitted to "Field Checkers" can't include 160m cards or cards
more than 10 years old. Being able to select these cards right from DX4Win
would be a big help.

3) The ability to IMPORT from a CSV file:
Sometimes, you just want to make changes to multiple items in your log that
you know you just couldn't expect a logging program designer to think of.
DX4Win can already export all fields to CSV. If it could RE-IMPORT those
fields after you did whatever magic you had to in your favorite spreadsheet
program, that would be sweet.

4) A seperate window for "browsing the log" than from "entering data"
This is something I used to have in a previous program some years back, and
I have gotten used to not having it. Still I miss not having to lose the
current entry in my log window just because I want to do a search through my
log to see what QSO's meet a certain critera.

Thanks to all (including Paul) for listening to my suggestions.

[Dx4win] need help with version 603

2004-05-29 Thread L. Sica
Others on here my have better suggestions, but I'd start by trying the
following:

1) Can you connect to any node just using Windows Telnet, outside of DX4Win?

2) Are you using the save/dx4win.tcp file from the original install? If not,
try restoring that and see if it makes a difference.

[Dx4win] 6.04 (6.1?) requests

2004-05-02 Thread L. Sica
I know, I know, I'm *really* jumping the gun here, but I thought I'd get my
voice in early

6.0.4 (6.1?) requests

In order of my preference, first to last

1) An option for "Field Checkable Cards Only?" under Reports/DXCC/Submission
to accomodate the rules for ARRL "field checking" of DXCC cards (you can't
submit 160m cards or cards more than 10 years old)

2) An option to include or not include spots that your radio is incapable of
operating on (according to how you've set up Parameters/Station). Or
another spot color to differentiate spots that are simply "No Interest" from
spots that are "Not Possible".

3) For more accurate rotator control, a more robust prefix checker for the
World Map. Something that can pinpoint the difference between an UA9X and a
UA0K (a 35 degree azimuth difference from here) or even an LU#W or an Lu#t,
for example.

4) The ability to actually produce ARRL DXCC and CQ WAZ submission pages
(print em, sign em, and maiil em)

Humbly submitted

[Dx4win] 6.03

2004-05-01 Thread L. Sica
I know I'm not one of the Beta testers, but I had to post my compliments
about what I'm seeing in 6.03.

Some of my favorite things:

1) Being able to "submit" cards for the DXCC award where DXCC hasn't been
achieved yet (great for DXCC Challenge Submissions)

2) Easy export to a LOTW format and import back into DX4Win

3) 60 meters

4) The addition of the "green background" spot for "New Band/Mode"

5) The fix to the WAZ submission reports (the addition of the "time" field).

So, now that you've whetted our appetities, when do we get the "real"
version released?

[Dx4win] [DX4WIN]

2004-05-01 Thread L. Sica
Is there a way in 6.03 to "import" from the ARRL LOTW report? Some way where
it will update (and only update) the Upl Conf flag? If I simply import the
ARRL file into DX4Win, it of course replaces ALL files in a record, and I'd
rather not have to manually set the Upl Conf flag on 500+ QSO's.

Actually, the technology has advanced some. The better programs can handle a
poorer S/N and some more non -perfect code than they used to. Here's
probably the best program at it (but, of course, the human ear is STILL a
better Morse decoder than any program)

I posted this before, but it doesn't look like it went through.

Might it be possible to get a new version preview/possible release date for
the next version of DX4Win? A lot of us are wondering what's next...
