Re: [Dx4win] Version 9 of DX4WIN available

Hi John,
I think you summed up well, what quite a few are saying off reflector.
Let's hope this is the starting point for some further (quick) developments.

Thanks Paul and the dedicated team - it's all installed perfectly here on W10
with DropBox hosted log-files. All the country totals are correct too.

There has already been mention of the next release - now that the basics are
sorted out, can we expect some real enhancements next time around?
(and the packet filtering bug fixed, too?)

It would be good to understand the road-map, if there is one? In my mind, the
enhancements offered do not particularly warranty a version upgrade, they're
'point upgrade' features that should have come out a long time ago. I'm really
disappointed by it - the only real benefit for me is the ability to log FT8
QSOs, the rest is superficial. Others may view it differently of course.

I do like DX4WIN for its multiple groups functionality, stability, interface,
speed and powerful searching but we're now in 2017 and people use MMVARI,
FLDIGI, WSJT-X, Clublog etc... I'm sure there is more to come. Modern day
logging software needs to interface with these tools; for a 'paid for' product
I would expect much more than what has been delivered.

I've paid and I'll stick with it because I know it. But probably not for much
longer, I feel I'm being taken for a ride here.

2017-10-20 Thread Neil Carr via DX4WIN
Understand Jim thanks.
I'm sure it's been brought up last 24 hrs, so apologies, only get time to
read my emails between meetings/work during the week, and whenever I have
had a quick look there have been 20-30 to sift through on this reflector,
sorry if I've missed it and doubled up.
Appreciate your quick reply.

The DX4WIN Data Updater is for users of DX4WIN 8.05 and earlier. It is not
needed by DX4WIN 9.01 which has a built-in updater.

Re: [Dx4win] NEW VERSION

2017-10-07 Thread Neil Carr via DX4WIN
Thanks for the updates Mike.
I've pretty much used DX4WIN since version 5, 17 yrs ago. I've always
upgraded as soon as the next version was available.
Hopefully Paul (and his Team) can start to manage the expectations of the
customer with a release date soon. I don't think there are going to be any
"game changing" features. Just bringing the product up to speed with modern
requirements (long overdue). No doubt the upgrade will also come with a fee.
I am giving it until the end of the year, then will move on, there are a lot
of products out there vying for my business. We do need to be hearing
something soon.
PS: I am not shooting the messenger here :-)
Thanks for your replies.

Hello Jerry,

Paul has not announced too much about the new version, nor has he announced
a release date. Some things he has announced are that version 9 will
include all of the new modes, plus a generic "DATA" mode, and integration
with AD1C's data updater.

Has a list of what will be in the new release ever been published? Beta
testing is a long way down the road for development. I would be interested
in knowing what we should expect as new features or changes. I have been
a DX4WIN user from the beginning also.

[Dx4win] New version 2017?

2017-08-01 Thread Neil Carr via DX4WIN
Have we any idea when the new version will be available? I'm not looking for a
date, but would welcome knowing if it's likely to be in 2017?
This would help me plan how I log a few different modes the next few months.
Thanks any info.
