For some reason my DX4Win does not show any log entries under mode DIG

All of my FT8 contacts are properly shown as mode DIG worked or

I am entering my FT4 QSO's as mode MFSK (submode FT4) in my log.

Can someone tell me what I am doing wrong?

Re: [Dx4win] New vanity call sign and log in Dx4WIN

2023-12-16 Thread W1ZZ via DX4WIN
When I moved to a new QTH, different state, a different ARRL section, but still
within CQ Zone 5,  I got a new LOTW certification for the new QTH. Therefore
when I upload to LOTW I chose the Start date of the upload in DX4W to LOTW. My
reasoning is that when I apply for WAS awards I can separate old vs. new QTH
based on the date of the QSOs. As for WPX or WAZ awards I don’t think that it
matters within LOTW for those awards.

Re: [Dx4win] DX4WIN Data Updater v. 9.6 released

I have released version 9.6 of the DX4WIN Data Updater:

    https://ad1c.us/dx4win/updater/

This is for users of DX4WIN 8.05 and earlier only.  Here are the release notes:

9.6 - 24 June 2022
Bug fix: after an Update, the IOTA check-box became enabled
Bug fix: location of some data files changed in early 2022
Use secure HTTPS for Club Log (not compatible with Windows XP)
Write DX4WIN version to log file
Compiled with Microsoft Visual Studio 2019

It has been a long time since I updated this program.  I don't know if
anyone still uses it.  Earlier this year, I rewrote significant
portions of my website, and this broke several of the download links
in the Updater program.  Because no one reported any problems to me,
I assumed that no one was using the Updater program.

So the big question is why did I release an update to a program that
no one uses?  For those who may not know, I update the following four
data files for DX4WIN 9.x each Saturday morning (local time).  Note
that they won't be available as DX4WIN 9.x updates until Paul changes
them on the DX4WIN server:

  - Calendar
  - Master Callsigns
  - Membership List
  - DX Cluster nodes

I use this same Updater program (in a special mode) to generate these
weekly updates.  I plan to enhance the OQRS (on-line QSL request
service) listing in the membership list.  However, in the process of
starting to do that, I discovered some unreleased updates.  I thought
it would be better to release those updates, then work on the
enhancements from a clean base.

I don't know when the OQRS enhancements will appear, but it definitely
won't be in time for this weekend's updates.  I'll send an update
after I have made the changes.

If you have any problems with the Updater, first consult the instructions here:

    https://ad1c.us/dx4win/updater/

If you can't find the answer, then let me know.

they are sharing or not sharing as the case may be the same COM port

I want to work a FT8 contact and then log it in DX4WIN. To do this at
the moment I make a QSO on WJST-X/FT8 , then close WJST-X and open
DX4WIN  ( or let DX4WIN /Radio interface time out and then log the
contact manually  A bit cumbersome in the digital age.
So what do you guys do?
1) Manually transfer the info to DX4WIN after the radio connection times
out, have to remember to enter all the band data, etc

2) The 990 has in addition to the USB virtual COM connection, a real COM
port I suspect but have not tried it that I could run both the USB/COM
and the REAl/COM dedicate one port to DX4WIN and dedicate the other
connection to WJST-X

3) WJST-X has a loging mode, so just log everything to WJST-X and then
import that log into DX4WIN later ?

4) Or Some possible permutation and combination I haven't
considered yet

Could be.  Must be getting forgetful in my retirement.
It was just that in all the years of using DX4W I have never seen a Grey’d
spot for a call on a band where I have not worked it yet on that particular
band

[Dx4win] Grey'd out spot of 9LY1JM

2019-01-14 Thread W1ZZ via DX4WIN
I have a interesting observation on packet spots 9LY1JM on my DX4Win packet
spotting window. Cluster is connected to Ve7cc.   I have worked them on a few
bands, but I have not worked them on 15m or 24M, however when I get spots on
them on these bands, the spot shows up GREY, aka "No Interest".I would have
thought spot would have come through a "Blue" as I have worked plenty of 9Ls on
both those bands?

In DX4WIN:

*    File > Import/Export

*    File > Import
*    Navigate to where your "wsjt_log.adi" file is located and select it
*    When pop-up window asks how to handle duplicate QSOs select
"Imported QSO is Ignored", then OK

That should bring your WSJT-X QSOs into DX4WIN without duplicating QSOs that
are already there.

I'd also suggest using the latest version of WSJT-X (1.9.1). There are
important improvements, including the ability to run fox/hound in the
DXPedition mode.

Subject: [Dx4win] Import FT-8 file to DX4WIN

Hi,

My mind has wandered somewhat. I used to be able to import an FT8 file
simply by copying the.adi log file from WSJT 1.8.2 to a flash drive and then
importing it to DX4WIN 9.04. When I tried this today, the import file just
hangs and I get error messages. Is there a more efficient way to do this? I
seem to recall some previous methods put on this reflector, but I must have
deleted them.

Any help?

Carol

yes, I just did it yesterday and am s happy how it works !!
use JTalert ...  it and N1MM must be on the same computer... in N1MM+ latest
version, go to Config / Configure Ports etc / Broadcast Data
at bottom of that window see a box for JTalerts
check the box and set the data as shown above 127.0.0.1  port 2333
In JTalert, select Settings / Manage settings / Logging / Last QSO API
be sure the UDP port is set for 2333  (to match N1MM+ setting)
That's it !!   when you log a QSO in WSJT-X it will also go into N1MM+
like magic   :))

WHen I click on a FT8 spot within DX4Win v9, the mode fill in FT8, but then
it changes to SSB. How come, what am I missing? Also why is ther a  need for
a'submode'?  Which I have yet to get anything to put in via a pull down?
In previous versions like v8 I could just highlight and change the mode,
but that doesn't seem the case with v9

Re: [Dx4win] logging ft8 in version 9

2018-02-03 Thread W1ZZ via DX4WIN
Thanks Wes. Yes I noticed that if I 'stopped' the radio, FT8 would stick in the
'mode'.
Maybe an enhancement for DX4Winv9 would be to band map the standard FT8
frequencies in 'Preferences', such as  FT8 would stick in the 'mode', sort of
like that band stop mapping for CW and SSB in Preference > SETUP Parameters >
i.e.  "CW Freq Cutoff"? OR if FT8 is in the 'REMARKS" field then FT8 would also
'STICK" ? Either way would save on allot of 'hand holding' a FT8 QSO in the
logging process.

I am just starting to use FT8, and would like to here from other DX4WIN v9 user
the config setups.
I have a FTdx5000 and plan on using the "PKT" connection on the radio to a
external MFJ 1204MD6 sound card to the computer running both the FT8 and DX4Win
V9 software.

I am still unclear what a 'submode' is used for in DX4Winv9?

 Hi Ed,

The behavior I have noticed when clicking on spots, unless FT8 is noted in the
"Remarks"
field in the DX Cluster window,

Example:  DX de F4GAJ:      7074.0  K0UA        FT8 TU QSO...

the mode will revert to SSB, as DX4WIN will read the mode from the radio.  You
will have to manually change the mode after saving the QSO.

[Dx4win] logging ft8 in version 9

2018-02-02 Thread W1ZZ via DX4WIN
WHen I click on a FT8 spot within DX4Win v9, the mode fill in FT8, but then it
changes to SSB. How come, what am I missing? Also why is ther a  need for
a'submode'?  Which I have yet to get anything to put in via a pull down?
In previous versions like v8 I could just highlight and change the mode,
but that doesn't seem the case with v9

Re: [Dx4win] 3Y0Z

This how I also check for QSLs rcvd by mail when I can’t find the QSO for the
requested QSL.  If the call doesn’t come up anywhere in my log, then I know
there was no way QSO

Subject: [Dx4win] 3Y0Z

I tried to pre-emptively add 3Y0Z (Bouvet) before the expedition actually
begins so I can see spots as soon as they start appearing - or should I say
so I can be alerted when an ATNO is spotted. Right now 3Y0Z is coming up
Antarctica.

I tried to add the callsign to Bouvet but when I select File, Database,
Countries, I get a screen saying "Country editor not available".

So, will AD1C be publishing a new country file that includes 3Y0Z with a
start date of "around" January 23, 2018, the earliest estimated date of
arrival on the island?

Good luck everyone! See you in the pileups.
