Could an additional county named Independent City be added to the list
for Virginia? As the program now functions the county field for a QSO with
an independent city must be left blank. I have a number of QSO's that are
in yet-to-be-determined counties and if one were able to enter Independent
City a search through the log for Virginia QSO's with blank county fields
would locate the QSO's needing county identification.

There is no need for this. Search for VA in the state field and !* in
the county field, and you will find all QSOs that do not have a VA county
logged. Same works for any other state.

[Dx4win] Additional Virginia county

2004-10-06 Thread [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Virginia has a LOT of independent cities - 42 if my count is correct.

However, adding a county called Independent City would likely louse up a
county count and thus might do more harm than good.

Assuming the purpose of entering county info is for USA-CA purposes, a
friend of mine who is a CQ card checker tells me that their rules ask you to
pick
an adjoining county (once) for crediting an independent city. Thus perhaps
the best procedure would be to assign the selected adjacent county, and
perhaps make comments in the note for call field of the Independent City.

However, for the Virginia QSO Party (of which I am a committee member) all
counties and independent cities are multipliers, but that's another story.

Subject: [Dx4win] Another EXT DATA Mystery
Message-ID: [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Back a few weeks ago, I was having problems accessing the QRZ data base
on my hard drive until several pointed out that the data directory
(CALLBK) should be in the root directory (C:\). That change solved all
my problems. However, I was using the W-98SE operating system.

I recently had to press my laptop into service in the shack while I'm
upgrading my desktop. The laptop uses Windows XP. When I do precisely
the same thing on the laptop as I did on the desktop, DX4WIN reports an
error and says there's no QRZ32.DLL in the EXT DATA directory. (Also,
when I go back to the EXT DATA setup menu, the DATA Source has reverted
to none from the QRZ CD.) When I check the EXT DATA directory there
is indeed a QRZ32.DLL file there. I have even updated it to the latest
version from the CD and also tried putting it into the CALLBK directory
on C:\. DX4WIN just doesn't see it no matter where it is. I've also
tried a variety of other setups without success. I should also add that
I can't get DX4WIN to access data directly from the QRZ or RAC CD ROM
either. The F3 command does put the call into the DX4WIN EXT DATA
window, but no data is obtained.

Does anyone have any idea what's going on here. It seems to be
associated with W-XP. All works well with W-98SE.

I have written the first version (0.1) of the program.

It supports TX and CA QSO parties, and only supports Writelog (CNTY:) and
NA (comment:) formats.

You can try it by going to:

http://www.ad1c.com/dx4win/

and following the link at the top of the page.

This program should work in both DOS and Windows. If your ADIF received
county field is not supported, send me your .ADIF file as an attachment and
I'll add support for it.

If you want any other QSO parties supported, let me know. It's not much
work to add them now.

Note: I have not tried this program with mixed counties and states (i.e.
CAQP from CA side). Try it and see. County lines are NOT supported yet
(i.e. IL, IN QSO parties). That should not be too difficult to add if
there is interest.
