Re: [Dx4win] Converting an ADIF Field?

2009-04-09 Thread Gary McConville

I use a homebrew converter program that I threw together in Visual Basic that
lets me customize fields. Works great from Writelog adif output. It's a work
in progress, if anyone wants to play around with it...

Use Notepad (or any text editor - Notepad is notoriously slow at

Re: [Dx4win] Converting an ADIF Field?

2009-04-09 Thread ON4AOI
Eric,

(Adif) Notes = Notes for this Call
(Adif) Comment = Notes for this QSO

So yes you are correct when you do change the fieldname your problem will be
corrected

With ADIFMaster you can change the columm name directly from notes to
comment
And delete the original comment colum took me 25 seconds with + 41000 qso
testlog

So if, using a text editor, I change to it
will work?

I assume the "nn" is the length of the field.

Re: [Dx4win] Converting an ADIF Field?

2009-04-09 Thread Mel
Unfortunately the import is correct and I don't think you can do
anything about it.

Comments refer to a specific QSO.

Notes apply to the callsign. This is where the name normally goes.

This is how it works in all the logging programs I am familiar with.

You don't really need a name on a QSL card... and it gets meaningless if
you do a lot of contesting where the ops name is often unknown.

How did I test this? I create a monthly ADIF extract from DX4Win to track my
CQ Marathon score (using AD1C's nice marathon.exe utility). In that extract
the Notes for Callsign are represented with . I opened a test log
and imported those records into DX4Win. The Names {which are in Notes for

[Dx4win] Converting an ADIF Field?

2009-04-08 Thread Eric Rosenberg
I have an ADIF field that has the operator's name and
callsign. It is imported into DX4Win as NOTES FOR THIS QSO.

In order to print that data on a label using the && command, that data
needs to be in the NOTES FOR THIS CALLSIGN field.

DX4Win doesn't recognize the ADIF field... I just tried it. I
don't know of a way to change NOTES FOR THIS QSO to
NOTES FOR THIS CALLSIGN so I can use the && parameter when printing the
labels.

Any help is appreciated.
