Sorry, I didn't read all the way down. Yes, if a credit is already
"Checked", I agree that it should remain checked (i.e. never needed to
submit again) regardless of the settings of the QSL/LoTW/eQSL award
flags.

I believe I've also asked Paul for this before.

You have to clear the submissions report and start all over. Once you
submit something, regardless of how it's confirmed, it will stay in
the report unless you start over.

Re: [Dx4win] DXCC Submissions and LoTW

2010-12-03 Thread Dave Perry
No, unchecking Lotw will not work. The problem is with the Submissions report.
If you uncheck Lotw, then the Submissions report includes cards for countries
that were previously confirmed via Lotw confirmations. So the report becomes
meaningless. This has been a shortcoming of the program for some time. I
attempted to show Paul this problem at Dayton several years ago, but he did not
understand the issue.

The Submissions report for DXCC should be changed so that it takes into account
both QSOs that were confirmed by either Lotw and/or card. If you are like me,
I have almost 1,800 band/countries confirmed for the DXCC Challenge -- hundreds
have been confirmed via Lotw and hundreds more by card. So unchecking Lotw as
suggested by Paul and Jim will not work. If I do that, then the Submissions
report tries to submit cards for countries that were previously confirmed by
Lotw. So I have to keep Card and Lotw checked at all times in order for my
DXCC statistics and submissions to make sense.

What we need is a Submissions report that only lists Cards in Hand and will not
attempt to submit a card for a country that was previously confirmed by Lotw
and also checked by the DXCC desk. There is also a small wrinkle that occurs
when I have confirmed a new country by card and by Lotw. In that case, I
always submit that QSO to the ARRL via the online application process in Lotw.
Why have a card checker check a card when I can have it automatically credited
via Lotw? So the submissions report should allow the user to run it for "Cards
in Hand" in which a Lotw confirmation is also not pending. In other words, when
a country has been confirmed both ways, I want to use the Lotw confirmation --
and thus the card for that country should not be listed on the Submissions
report.

I have an elaborate routine by which I have to run the Submissions report,
export the file, and then use Excel to delete the Lotw confirmations so that
only Card in Hand QSOs (not previously confirmed by Lotw) are listed on the new
Submissions report. I then have to clear all Submit flags in DX4WIN. Enter
only the QSOs being confirmed via Lotw, rerun the Submissions report, export
the file, and then use Excel to delete the Lotw confirmations so that the Excel
report only shows "Cards in hand" that were not also confirmed by Lotw.

A few simple changes to the Submissions report for DXCC would greatly automate
and streamline the submission process. Again, simply unchecking Lotw under
File, Awards will not work. I have to keep both Card and Lotw checked at all
times in order for the DXCC records to make sense.

Do others agree that this would be a valuable enhancement to the program?

Dave, N4QS

[Dx4win] DXCC Submissions and LoTW

2010-12-03 Thread Rick Murphy
Last night I found that I had a big problem with my log - I printed out a
submission report and started pulling cards and couldn't find cards for most
of the confirmations on the list. This seemed pretty odd until I noticed
that all of these were marked by DX4WIN as confirmed by LoTW, however when I
looked at the site there was no QSL.

What apparently happened is that I downloaded a chunk of my log, used
LoTW/Import for LOTW to import those and DX4WIN didn't check if the contacts
were confirmed, setting the LoTW "Cnfm" flag for all QSOs.

I was able to recover from this by clearing all of the LoTW confirm flags
(create a selection with Cnfm:Y in the LoTW column then "LoTW/Clear LoTW
confirmed" which cleared all of them. Downloaded QSLs (not QSOs!) from LoTW
from all of my calls and re-imported, now it looks correct.
I just wanted to warn anyone to be careful what you load into DX4WIN.

Another issue is that the submission report includes all confirmations,
paper plus LoTW. This means that I can't just use it as is (i.e. hand it to
a field checker with my stack of cards) because the LoTW QSLs will need to
be deleted.
Is there a way that I can create a card-in-hand only submission report?
