Re: [Dx4win] FW: Can we add Q65? Other suggestions...

2022-10-14 Thread Georg (DL5NO)
The question about the support of Q65 was asked here in the forum a few
weeks ago. The new mode VARA is also being used by more and more
stations on the bands, for which corresponding additions to the
ADIF-spec have meanwhile also been published.

Are there any plans for corresponding updates of DX4WIN?

73 de Georg, DL5NO

Paul,

Thanks for the help the other day. I have three suggestions for
enhancements to DX4WIN on a new release:

1. Remove IOTA as a checked default when sending spots (Alt-A)
2. Implement UDP broadcast for QSOs between WSJT-X and DX4WIN (and
other programs)
3. Add Q65 as a mode or sub-mode (plus any other new modes)

A friend, AB4IQ, and I both happened to work WL7T/P from a rare grid (EL58)
using Q65. Ed uses Log4OM for 6 meters. His confirmation via LOTW clearly
shows the mode as Q65 while mine does not.

The times, they are a changing. hi, hi UDP broadcast between apps is
here to stay!

Thank you for your consideration. 73, Dave, N4QS

Good suggestions!!!

I add one more, new satellites or read them from a file that could be
updated manually.

Thanks

What might work, if it could be implemented, is for the IOTA checkmark in
the Announce DX window to be "sticky". I.e. if it was off (unchecked) the
last time, then it will be off (unchecked) the next time. Ideally, this
would work across restarts of DX4WIN. As they say, it's all just a small
matter of programming.

Yes, you are correct.

But If I am spotting KH6 or England on 6 meters or Australia on 160 meters,
I do not need/want to send the IOTA reference.

Re: [Dx4win] FW: Can we add Q65? Other suggestions...

2022-08-02 Thread WA7AA

Hi, Dave.

The problem with some of your requests is that, if implemented, they
would run contrary to what the vast majority of users want or need. Most
of us leave all updates checked because even if we don't need them all,
they have no detrimental or noticeable effect on our logger use.
Needless to say, we don't want to have to manually check nine boxes
every time for no reason.
Next up, If DX4Win opened in the Add Real Time mode (F9) but the radio
was off, it would go into a radio time-out routine which is tedious to
deal with (wait for timeout, click OK, disable the radio, then remember
to enable the radio when it's on, etc.). No one wants this.
As for the log entry window size (F5), it should come up with the same
size every time you open the program. If it doesn't, something's wrong.

Re: [Dx4win] FW: Can we add Q65? Other suggestions...

2022-08-02 Thread Courtney Judd

I also have a few requests for any new update:

a: on the check for updates drop down menu I would much prefer for the
updates ALL be unchecked... That way rather than having to uncheck 9
items, only have to check one... only one that interests me is the
COUNTRY update.

b: Rather than having to remember to hit F9 when opening the
program/log, I would much prefer tor the default to just go to the log.

c:The default for the log entry window should be the smallest have
to do the F5 thing every time to get it to fit my desired size

d: An easier method to upload to LOTW. I usually upload at the end of
every month and it's a struggle to remember all the key strokes it takes
to do this. At 78 hard to remember anything anymore!

e: How about some sort of interface with WSJT-X MMTTY and Gritty all
run great in the back ground

Just my 2 cents on what I would like to see. I have been with DX4WIN
since the beginning and currently show 150K+ qso's in my log. Thanks
Paul for such a great program! 73's Cort K4WI
