Re: [Dx4win] Icom 7600 & DX4WIN
Hi Jim (and all), I got a number of suggestions both here and privately, thanks to everyone. To summarize: For #2, I did adjust the rig file myself, and I'll be happy to pass it on to anyone who is interested. And as Jim suggests, so far everything I've seen seems to indicate that I still need an extra COM port for keying (which I have). I'd been using a "first generation" (I think) Rigblaster Plus with the audio being fed from the sound card as well as handling CW and PTT (for AFSK, PSK31, etc.) It looks like this cable http://www.westmountainradio.com/product_info.php?products_id=icom_aufsk_cbl might do the trick, using TxD to for FSK RTTY, and I should still be able to use everything else. Right now, for keying, I've got a connection between the keying output of the Rigblaster and the Key input on the back of the radio. What I need to figure out is how that cable will facilitate CW keying, since I can't figure out how they'd key CW just using the ACC plug. In any case, at this point, it looks this is more of a general Icom 7600 issue than a DX4WIN thing, so I'll move this this to the appropriate group. Thanks again to all. With the USB interface, I've already got CI-V set up via the virtual COM port, and I've got the audio coming into the computer via the USB audio port. (The audio out is there as well, I've got that working already with the voice keyer in N1MM+ for contesting.) I tried searching the list archives and didn't have a lot of luck, and before I re-invent the wheel, I was hoping that the list might help me out with a couple of question: 1) Is it possible to use the USB COM port to do CW keying, or will I need to continue to use the Rigblaster for that? 2) Using ON4AOI's ICOM 7600_250Hz I see that it goes to filter 2 when clicking on a spot to tune either for CW or SSB, and using 7600_500Hz it uses filter 3. Before I dig deep into the manuals, does anyone have a version of the rig file for this radio that will use Filter 1 for tuning? For that matter, are there any newer versions that might provide additional capabilities? (Not sure what those might be, but figured I'd ask.) 3) For RTTY, is it possible to do FSK using just the USB COM port, or does that require an external keyer? (I guess this is more of an MMTTY question.) If not, what are the recommended settings to use AFSK? On my old rig, I'd used LSB and that worked, but I was wondering if I could take advantage of FSK for this one. Re: [Dx4win] Icom 7600 & DX4WIN
Back before I added the WinKeyer to my station and before all USB ports became the norm, I had a special DB9 "Y" cable. I was able to do both rig control and use either DTR/DSR or RTS/CTS for keying CW output. Can't remember the particulars, but it did work both. David, regarding #1 and #3. My understanding is that the COM port used for radio (frequency) control must be used ONLY for radio control. You will need a second COM port to do CW keying, PTT and FSK. Re: [Dx4win] Icom 7600 & DX4WIN
I did figure out how to modify ON4AOI's rig file to set to filter 1 by default. If anyone's interested in a copy of the file let me know, it's a pretty minor change. Still looking for answers to #1 & #3. On 3/5/2016 11:16 PM, David Kozinn, K2DBK wrote: After the smoke escaped from my trusty Icom 756 Pro II, I bit the bullet and upgraded to an Icom 7600. [Dx4win] Icom 7600 & DX4WIN
