[Dx4win] CW driver question

2014-01-19 Thread Carter
Well, I am finally retiring my Widows 98 ham computer and replacing* it
with a new XP Pro computer -- that I got 2 years ago and am just now
getting around to changing out -- two months before XP support goes
away. As they say, timing is everything! grin

On the Win 98 machine, I just used DX4Win, Version 5.03, for very casual
and basic DX logging and nothing more.

Here is the question:

Now that I have DX4Win installed on the XP computer, right at start-up,
I get a small window that pops up and says Warning - Could not open CW
driver. I click OK and everything then seems to work fine.

Barefoot pilgrim that I am, I didn't realize you could even use the
program for CW -- and never got that warning message on the Win 98
machine. Can anyone tell me why I am getting this message and how to
make it go away.

Thanks and 73,

Carter K8VT

* note: FWIW, the Win 98 machine was/is working just fine with all its
existing software. The reason for the change out is so I can load new
programs like JT65-HF that want me to be in the 21st century.

[Dx4win] CW Driver

2003-01-22 Thread Ralph Fedor
For a very long time now, I have been using DX4WIN (5.03) and upon opening
the program getting the pop-up message, COULD NOT OPEN CW DRIVER.

I've been ignoring this and just using my paddle, but how do I get back to
being able to use the keyboard and memories again?

Thanks --
Ralph - K0IR

Ralph if you are using Windows XP, copy this driver into
C:\windows\system32\drivers

Problem will then go away. I had the same problem and thanks to the guys
at DX4WIN they solved my problem in a hurry.

Ralph,

This typically happens when you move the software to another computer with a
different operating system.

The Appendix: Files, has the list of files needed, and at the bottom of that
list are the two different CW (port) drivers. You can retrieve these files, or
any other file for that matter, from the installation program by executing the
install program with the /X parameter.
Like: dx4w503.exe /X

(Works quickest on the command line)
