Re: [Dx4win] cw keyer

2022-06-25 Thread Mike Cizek W0VTT
Hello John,

There is a keyboard function built in to DX4WIN. You can use the DTR line
on your rig control port and send with function key macros, or by typing in
the text.

I use the WKMini (Winkey Mini) on DX4WIN.

Used the regular WinKey before.

Both work great on DX4WIN.

Does this computer have a LPT port? Home computers built in the last

What hardware are you using to add the LPT port?

Re: [Dx4win] DX4Win CW Keyer

2010-10-13 Thread John Shaw
I think unless I'm missing something the TUNE function has not been
programmed into the DX4WIN WinKey keyboard. It is available from the CW
keyboard but that is no help when using WinKey. If I am correct perhaps
Paul could put this on the wish list for the future. It is possible as
other programs do have TUNE available with WinKey.

Like Kostas I have another keyer in parallel that I use for tune but it
would be nice feature to have from DX4WIN it self.

[Dx4win] CW Keyer

2010-03-01 Thread Dave Cossar
Well the CW keyer does work if you use Ver 8.01 run as adminstrator, but I
thought the DTR and rts lines seemed swapped, but could be wrong.

My Fix for the moment is to use Ver 8.01 but still need the fix of the .dll
to stop the parallel port error message coming up at the beginning.

I'll get round to that I've too much to do at the moment will wait till Ver
8.03.05 comes out.

This Win7 has been a problem from the start, but that is the way with the
world we are forced into using WINDOWS by the manufacturers and shops that
will just sell WIN7

It's the future and you just have to force yourself to come to grips with
it!

I tried to get a small net book with Linux which were available 6 months
ago, now the only option is windows, I just feel that we are being squeezed
into the windows platform wither we like it or not

My reason for using Linux in a net book is for security in cafes etc were
you can read everybody's emails..

[Dx4win] CW Keyer

2003-06-27 Thread WA9ALS - John
Does anyone know for sure that its safe to simply use the key the IC-706
directly from pin 17 without going through the transistor switch?

1. You can invert the logic by swapping the transistor's base and emitter
leads.

2. Anecdotes that don't necessarily apply to CW keying: I've inadvertently
sent the PTT and FSK signals to the 706 without a transistor switch, and it
worked, except the PTT was inverted. I also routinely send the fsk signal
to a 706, 1000mp, and PROII with only a 1K resistor in the line. I
originally saw this suggestion in the documentation for the RITTY program by
K6STI. I wouldn't say this was safe unless you really understand the
schematic of your rig's various inputs.

I don't know anything about the CW input - FOr CW, I use a 2n switch
with emitter to ground, collector to key, and base to serial port DTR thru
1K resistor.

The switch is the way to go - just invert your logic if backwards.

[Dx4win] CW Keyer

2003-06-24 Thread [EMAIL PROTECTED]
I trying to use the CW keying feature in version 5.03 with my IC-706.
Unfortunately the logic level from PIN 17 of the DB-25 Parallel Printer Port
LPT1 using MS-2000 is inverted. Instead of going high the true state
actually goes low. The HELP file states that you need to use an 2N NPN
transistor to key the radio. The base-emitter junction is forward biased
through 1K resistor connected to pin 17 of the DB-25 LPT1 computer port.

In lieu of adding another transistor to invert the signal back to the correct
logic state does anyone know how if the logic for pin 17 can be reversed in
software?

Does anyone know for sure that its safe to simply use the key the IC-706
directly from pin 17 without going through the transistor switch?

2002-07-03 Thread [EMAIL PROTECTED] (Philippe Vandekerckhove)
Hi Don,

I did, I have a strange thing going on.
I have a circuit with the 2N working perfect on my 570 and my IC706 =
but only with CWTYPE or N1MM logger or TRLOG but not with DX4WIN. When =
I key in DX4WIN the rig is keyed and stay's like this sending a =
contignous tone untill I exit the program ?

I guess the problem is with DX4WIN and not with my keyer circuit.

Thanks anyway !
Phil

  Phil,
Try disconnecting C1. I don't see the point of it and the circuit that =
I'm using is identical except for the cap. I use a 2n in one =
converter and a 4N33 opto isolator in another both work. Neither =
has the capacitor.
