[Dx4win] Ver9 label editor
Hi ALL, If you've followed my saga about labels, the answer turns out to be the ver9 DX4WIN label editor is broken. I loaded up Version 805 and brought over the log from V9 and the editor works fine. I can now print Dymo labels as noted on Jim's DX4W web site. I don't know how to get this custom label into V9 but will hope Paul finds a way to fix this in Ver9 DX4WIN. 73 Wayne WA1PMA __ DX4WIN mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/dx4win Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:DX4WIN@mailman.qth.net This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html
Re: [Dx4win] ver9
If you make this feature available please make it an option in the preferences so it can be enabled or disabled. Unless you can fix the way DX4WIN handles a radio not been present all the time. While it might save one keystroke it will cause many putting out fires because a radio is not always switched on when booting DX4WIN because it can't handle no radio present without stopping the radio function, then it has to be started again. Some logging programs handle this much better than DX4WIN and it isn't a problem but that is another story. 73 John ZL1BYZ. -Original Message- From: dx4win-boun...@mailman.qth.net [mailto:dx4win-boun...@mailman.qth.net] On Behalf Of Ian Trusson via DX4WIN Sent: Friday, 27 October 2017 5:39 a.m. To: Courtney Judd <k...@k4wi.net> Cc: Dx4win@mailman.qth.net Subject: Re: [Dx4win] ver9 FAO: Paul KK4HD I echo K4WI’s request that an option be provided in DX4WIN to avoid having to press F9 every time the program is started so the auto atu is set for the particular frequency and the program is ready for entering a QSO. I think this should be the default and should be fine for most people using the program. I find it a nuisance to have to press F9 every time I switch on my radio and the program before I can start operating. [Dx4win] ver9
well finally got it all up and working as it should today! The problem that had me stumped for the last day was clicking on any pre-made message in MMTTY. The display in MMTTY showed the message being sent but the rig just didn't key up. I figured this was a PTT problem somewhere in DX4WIN, MMTTY or Microham Router. I changed a bunch of things but no luck. Swapped back and forth from 8.05 to 9 to see what was different. Set everything the same back to original before experimenting and still no luck. Still the same... worked great in 8.05 but would not send in ver9. AHH Ha!!! That's when I realized I had changed the messages in ver9 to be like the ones in 8.05. Guess what... there had to be a space between %X%M before the message IE: CQ|%X%M cq cq cq de k4wi%M%e instead of CQ|%X%Mcq cq cq de k4wi%M%e , added the space and works like before. Also discovered the %X... the X has to be in caps! So far pleased with the new version only think I could wish for is the having to hit F9 to change to real time logging prefer for it to open in real time! Re: [Dx4win] ver9
You don't need to open the license file. Just copy it into the new directory for ver 9.0 See Jim's upgrade tips below: Dave, N4QS From: dx4win-boun...@mailman.qth.net [mailto:dx4win-boun...@mailman.qth.net] On Behalf Of Jim Reisert AD1C Sent: Thursday, October 19, 2017 7:08 PM To: DX4WIN Reflector <dx4win@mailman.qth.net> Subject: [Dx4win] Upgrade tips for 9.01 (quick start guide) Here's a quick upgrade cheat sheet for 9.01. There are two important parts: * Migrating your configuration (preferences) from the OLD to the NEW version * Copying (not moving) your log file. The file format will be changed when it is read into DX4WIN 9.01. If you change the old file and write it back, then your old version of DX4WIN will not be able to read it. *** READ THIS SENTENCE A COUPLE OF TIMES SO YOU UNDERSTAND!!! *** Here are the steps: 1. Using your OLD version, go to File | Preferences. Then File | Write INI File. The default name is DX4WIN.INI *** remember where this file is! *** 2. Install 9.01 and start it. It should come up with the default configuration and a SAMPLE log. 3. Follow the instructions you received with your license key. DX4WIN cannot be running when you are installing the license key. 4. Using the NEW version, go to File | Preferences. Then File | Load Configuration File. Navigate to the file you wrote in step #1 above, it's in your old DX4WIN SAVE directory. Double-click on the file name, it should be DX4WIN (or whatever you named it) and say "Configuration File" to the right. 5. Next, copy (don't move) your log file (.DXL) from your old SAVE directory to your new SAVE directory. Right-click on the file in the old location and choose COPY (not CUT). Then navigate to the new SAVE directory, right-click and choose PASTE. *** The next step is VERY IMPORTANT *** 6. Using the NEW version, go to File | Open Log File. Click on the down-arrow arrow next to "Look in...". If the path is not the full path to your DX4W901 SAVE directory, you must navigate there first. When you see the .DXL file, double-click on it to open it. DO NOT OPEN THE LOG FILE IN THE OLD LOCATION!!! That's pretty much all you have to do. Please post questions to the REFLECTOR, do not send me personal E-mail. My mailbox is already too full with messages that I don't have time to answer. 73 - Jim AD1C -- Jim Reisert AD1C, <jjreis...@alum.mit.edu>, http://www.ad1c.us __ DX4WIN mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/dx4win Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:DX4WIN@mailman.qth.net This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html -Original Message- From: dx4win-boun...@mailman.qth.net [mailto:dx4win-boun...@mailman.qth.net] On Behalf Of Courtney Judd Sent: Saturday, October 21, 2017 4:54 PM To: Dx4win@mailman.qth.net Subject: [Dx4win] ver9 well, not going so good.
