This is just a guess

I'm using DX4WIN version 9.09. When I type F8 and then type AF012 into the
IOTA field, it also automatically fills in the IOTA Island as "Juan de Nova".
It's possible that when you search, your FR/J QSOs either have nothing, or
something other than "Juan de Nova" in the IOTA Island field.

If I were you, I would use F8 search and put FR/J in the Prefix field instead.
What is found in the IOTA and IOTA Island fields for each of those QSOs? I
would set each QSO to the correct IOTA and Island, saving the changes of course.

Now does searching for AF012 work?

Re: [Dx4win] IOTA Logging Question

2022-11-08 Thread Jim Reisert AD1C
Joe OZ0J got it correct. When logged into the IOTA World website (
https://www.iota-world.org/ ), you can submit confirmations from
either LoTW or Club log to your IOTA account. You still need to apply
to have those confirmations added to your total.

You can also download all your IOTA credits, and import them into
DX4WIN for the purpose of setting the IOTA Award Flag to Checked.
It's at the bottom of the QSL menu, "Use IOTA File for Awards".

Re: [Dx4win] IOTA Logging Question

2022-11-08 Thread OZ0J / 5Q2T - Joe
Hi

On https://www.iota-world.org (My IOTA) you can add QSOs from LoTW, so LoTW is
accepted by IOTA. QSOs from Clublog is also accepted by the IOTA program, if
both stations from the QSO must have the same QSO in a Clublog account.

Paper IOTA QSL must sometimes be controlled by an IOTA card checker (the same
way as the DXCC card checker).

Use https://www.iota-world.org to see the full IOTA QSOs and QSLs. See the
submenu to "My IOTA".

And you can use https://hamalert.org/about to get spots for new IOTA
references.

As far as I can see, DX4WIN does not import the IOTA reference form LoTW. Some
of the IOTA references will come in the updates from AD1C, Jim.

To: DX4WIN Reflector
Subject: [Dx4win] IOTA OC-298 -- Tatakoto Atoll

If you are not an IOTA chaser, you can skip reading this...

Recently Cezar VE3LYC operated from Tatakoto as TX0T which was then
qualified as IOTA OC-298. There were several past operations from
this atoll. These will now also count as IOTA OC-298 instead of IOTA
OC-066.
If you have received credit for IOTA OC-066 for one of these past
operations, you will lose that credit. You will need to find another
QSO with IOTA OC-066 to submit for IOTA credit.

With the help of DX spots and DL6KVA, I have identified the following
past operations from Tatakoto Atoll. The information on the IOTA
World web site does not include dates but does include callsigns:

https://www.iota-world.org/islands-on-the-air/iota-groups-islands/grou
p/1175.html

The next country file will have the following callsigns associated
with the new IOTA (they are listed chronologically):

FO0CLA 2000-04-20,2000-05-23
FO0CLA 2000-06-27,2000-08-01
FO5RH2004-07-20,2004-07-21
FO5RH2005-09-18,2005-09-27
FO5RH2008-05-14,
TX5TES 2010-07-11,2010-07-25
FO8AA/P 2015-03-01,2015-04-07
TX0T 2020-10-30,2020-11-05

Note that FO0CLA (who later became FO5RH) operated from many other
islands in French Polynesia starting in mid-1999, so the start and end
dates are important. I have done my best to determine the correct
dates. There may have been other operations from Tatakoto, other than
the dates given above. If you have a QSL from such an operation,
please let me know and I will make the necessary changes to the
country file.

When the next country file is released later this week, you can use
Multiple QSO Operations | Check IOTA to determine which QSOs you may
need to change.

Re: [Dx4win] IOTA QSO CSV file

On Sun, Apr 28, 2019 at 6:25 PM Bud Governale W3LL asked:

-> Load an IOTA QSO CSV file to automatically select all IOTA references
that you have not worked yet.

Bud,

You don't use IOTA CSV file from DX4WIN. I have just tried
https://hamalert.org/ and here it is how it works:

1) create an account at https://www.iota-world.org
2) go to "My IOTA" and add your worked/confirmed IOTAs. You can get many
IOTAs if you have a https://clublog.org account- You need an ADIF file from
DX4WIN (File -> Import/Export -> Export -> ADIF)
3) In HamAlert account connect Clublog to HamAlert via a Clublog Application
Key. See HELP in HamAlert how to do that
4) After you have added all your worked/confirmed IOTAs, go to

I have no idea what format HamAlert expects, but you can create a .CSV
file listing your needed IOTA:

>From the Reports menu item, choose IOTA as the Award, and "Needed
Listing" as the Report/Action. After clicking OK, right-click on the
"IOTA Needed Listing" window and choose "Write to File". You'll have
to open the resulting CSV file in a program like Microsoft Excel and
manipulate the data into the format that HamAlert expects.

Hi Luis,

The IOTA group has stopped providing the file that is required by
users of DX4WIN 8.05 and earlier (fulllist.xml). They now provide a
file in a different format (JSON). I have an island update for DX4WIN

I have been extremely busy at work and have not had time to convert
the JSON file to something that DX4WIN 8.05 and earlier users can use.
There is no solution for users of DX4WIN 8.05 and earlier at this
time, except to upgrade by going to http://www.dx4win.com. Serious
IOTA chasers who are using DX4WIN really should consider upgrading.

If you are running DX4WIN 9.0x and want a copy of the islands file

8.05 and earlier - use the DX4WIN Data Updater:

Re: [Dx4win] IOTA

2015-07-28 Thread Jim Reisert AD1C
Hi Alan,

I think there are several different issues here:

I just completed the IOTA contest last weekend and it made me think of
tracking my IOTA credits in DX4WIN. I presently have 394 IOTA's confirmed.
(They did a great job of card checking at Visalia last April). NONE of these
IOTA's show confirmed in the AWARDS section of my DX4WIN log window.

What do you mean by the AWARDS section of my DX4WIN log window? Do
you mean the award flags at the bottom of the QSO (log entry) window?
Those flags will get set if you peform a DX4WIN submission for the
IOTA award. When your application is returned, you can then change the
IOTA flag(s) from Submitted to Checked (via the Report menu)

Something I don't understand that I am sure I am missing is how to enter my
IOTA data from the IOTA website into DX4WIN. I do not see any ADIF file
download to output to DX4WIN. They do provide a Excel CSV file but I don't
know how to download it into DX4WIN.

There is no way to do so. Either do the IOTA submission through
DX4WIN (see above), or manipulate the award flags by hand.

In reviewing the app note, I also decided it would be a good thing to enter
all my DXCC credits to DX4WIN. I come under the category you mentioned
under: If you already have ARRL DXCC credits, but none of them are tracked
in DX4WIN, then start here instead I already have DXCC Award credits, but
have never tracked them in DX4WIN. What do I do?

You want to use the Compare LoTW Credits to DX4WIN program
(something like that) found at http://dx4win.ad1c.us/ (I can not get
to this site from work). Then you can figure out how to resolve the
differences. It's all described on that page.

What is the DXCC QSL Download file on the LOTW webpage? Mine has the heading
 of:
ARRL Logbook of the World DXCC QSL Card Report

Log into ARRL LoTW site.
Click on Awards box near the top.
Click on Select DXCC Award Account on the left.
Click on DXCC QSL Download on the left to generate the ADIF file you
showed in your message.

Re: [Dx4win] IOTA

2015-07-27 Thread Alan Zack
Hello Jim,

I remember seeing this last January and saved it hoping to be able to use
the info someday. The someday is now.

I have
never tracked my IOTA's in DX4WIN other than typing in the IOTA number and
IOTA name into appropriate boxes when I log an IOTA contact. But I do
generate ADIF's files from DX4WIN to submit to IOTA.

As per your instructions below to Mike, R3BM, I went to your app notes.

Something I don't understand that I am sure I am missing is how to enter my
IOTA data from the IOTA website into DX4WIN. I do not see any ADIF file
download to output to DX4WIN. They do provide a Excel CSV file but I don't
know how to download it into DX4WIN.

As you pointed out, I can
list all my DXCC credits from the ARRL LOTW webpage to manually update the
DX4Win log AWARDS window. One thing I learned in reading your app notes is
that I don't have to make notations for all my 42,697 QSO's in DX4WIN. If I
understand your example using EA correctly, if my DXCC records show I have
DXCC credit for EA1ABC on 20 mtrs SSB then ALL my EA 20 mtr SSB QSO's will
be flagged as CHECKED. Is that correct?

However, I have 340 countries confirmed. That is a lot of typing and as you
stated prone to mistakes, which I am good at making.

What is the DXCC QSL Download file on the LOTW webpage? Mine has the heading
of:
ARRL Logbook of the World DXCC QSL Card Report
Generated at 2015-07-27 23:28:21Z for K7ACZ and looks like this:

eor

And so on, and so on, and so on..for many many more
calls.
This is just for the call K7ACZ. I also have records for the call K6ACZ when
I lived in CA but my DXCC credits are combined since K6ACZ and K7ACZ are
both USA calls.

I might be making too big of a deal of this. I was afraid of trying to send
my QSO info to ClubLog and the QRZ.COM logbook and then discovered I can
just use the same ADIF file I send to LOTW to ClubLog, QRZ.COM logbook and
eQSL. So now every time I send an ADIF file from DX4WIN to LOTW I also send
it to these other entries.

Sorry for all the questions. I am an electronics person (BSEE). I can build
and fix radios, antennas, etc, BUT computers are not my forte.

Take your time (if you have time) to answer. Many questions here. I really
appreciate all your help over the years. Missed you at Visalia.

TIA 73,
Alan, K7ACZ

The site is fixed, you can verify this by going to this URL:

If you made any changes to the DX4WIN Data Updater configuration file

the one from the UPDATE directory, then run the Updater again.

Re: [Dx4win] IOTA

2011-12-20 Thread Jim Reisert AD1C
I hope it's OK that I speak for Garry here.

He has two DX4WIN installations, an older version and 8.05. After
installing 8.05, he ran the Data Updater that was in his old version's
directory, expecting it to update 8.05 also (i.e. update all installed
versions). It did (does) not. He manually copied the data files from
his old (up-to-date) installation to his 8.05 installation and all was
well again.

This prompted me to add the following note to the DX4WIN Data Updater
documentation, in the installation section:

http://dx4win.ad1c.us/updater/index.html#install

NOTE: If you have multiple (different) versions of DX4WIN installed
on your computer, and you want to keep each of them up-to-date, you
must save the DX4WUPD.EXE file in each DX4WIN directory that has a
DX4WIN.EXE file. For example, if you have versions 7.07, 8.01 and 8.05
installed, you will have to save DX4WIN.EXE into the dx4w705, dx4801
and dx4w805 directories. To update a particular version of DX4WIN, you
must run the Updater Program that is saved in that version's
directory.

It seemed obvious to me that you would have to install the updater
into each copy of DX4WIN you have installed, but it apparently wasn't
obvious to everyone, so I added the note.

You don't have fulllist.xml or the file is damaged.

Delete SAVE\fulllist.xml and re-update to get the latest one.

Or do as Jim Said, but Select the Submission report from the drop down list
- That shows all entities confirmed, that count towards your award AND
moves them in your log to submitted !!

All you then need to do is copy that detail onto the IOTA web site
submission, dig your cards out, and away you go !

The IOTA group list (reference numbers) is included in the country

The Islands list (fulllist.xml) must be downloaded from the RSGB web
site. In Help | Contents, click on the Index tab and search for IOTA.

Dwayne perhaps the step in addition to what Jim has pointed out is when you
have clicked on the link in the help file and your browser has opened up on
the RSGB fulllist.xml page you then need to do a save as in the browser,
navigate it to the DX4w###/save folder, click save and it should be done. Re

 Hi everyone,

This email is being BCC'd to everyone who emailed me about the
fullist.xml file on the IOTA site.

Apologies again that it has taken us a month to sort this out. I'm
pleased to tell you that the new fulllist.xml file is now available
 from http://www.rsgbiota.org/xml/fulllist.xml

This file (version 1.3) includes the changes to both SA-006 and SA-099
which occurred as a result of the Netherlands Antilles break-up, and
replaces version 1.2.9, which you were recently emailed privately.

I have also regenerated the shortlist.csv and Google Earth KMZ files
to reflect the same changes, these can also be downloaded from the
 IOTA website.

Let me know if you have any problems or queries.

 http://www.rsgbiota.org/xml/fulllist.xml
But once getting to this website I found a very large file with a lot of
machine language and no visible way of downloading it the way that you can
download AD1C's CTY, AWD, TCP, etc files.

Has anyone downloaded this RSGB IOTA Islands List and if so how did you do it.

I have apparently done something stupid and I cannot seem to find the fix.
I mistakenly deleted the IOTA window and I cannot get it back. Surely it is
in there somewhere! I have numerous previous versions of DX4WIN on older
computers if that will help. TNX in advance for the help.

Is it possible to make one logbook window type the default so it is not
necessary to reset it every time DX4WIN is opened?

Re: [Dx4win] Iota fullist.xml

2009-08-06 Thread IZ5FSA
I've found that EU005 is GB Main Island only but the list let me see
all UK islands.
Can it be a bug?

Jim Reisert AD1C ha scritto:
If you're using Firefox, use File | Save Page As...

I can't speak for Safari, Opera or Chrome.

Note that this is NOT a database that maps callsigns to IOTA! It's a
database that lists IOTA island names for each IOTA Group. For example,
IOTA EU003 consists of these islands:

Formigas islands
Santa Maria
Sao Miguel

When you go to a QSO where the IOTA is EU003, you can further select one
of those three island names in the IOTA Island field.

An IOTA application must include both the IOTA reference (group) number,
as well as the actual island name (from the QSL card). QSOs made after
1 January 2001 *must* have the Island Name (i.e. Sao Miguel) PRINTED
(not hand-written) on the QSL card.

My previous answer didn´t relate to your question

So this is how it works

Open the included helpfile.pdf in C:\DX4W801\DOCS
Go to page 146 or via notes to Files not included with .
 Or this link http://www.rsgbiota.org/xml/fullist.xml
When you click on it your browser should open and populate
The window , wait a few seconds until all has arrived
Now in your browser go to file and do SAVE AS
 Only change path to C:\DX4W801\SAVE

 That’s it

DX4WIN matches what's on the IOTA web site:

Hi Leo,

I think the feature you are asking for is to ignore LoTW confirmations, EXCEPT
for the DXCC and WAS awards.

The problem with that request is that the DX4WIN program will have to be
updated every time a new award program is added to LoTW.

I think the method that Kostas suggested is the best for now.

Iota and DXCC are a little bit complex to manage in this way... Can I ask for
a new feature in nex DX4WIN release?
