[e-gold-list] dollars?
Dear Friends, As for this story: http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=storyu=/ap/20021107/ap_on_el_ge/campa igns_mighty_dollarcid=1305ncid=1305 There is no difficulty in contributing as much as you please to a candidate. If you are upset by the new hard money limit of $2000 per candidate in a Congressional race (which obviously benefits the incumbents who have all manner of non-campaign ways of contacting voters) and want to do more for your favorite candidate - send gold coins. The pre-1933 US minted $20 gold coin is still legal tender. So, 100 of these is $2,000. Because it is issued by the US Mint and bears a face value, you can meet the election law requirements of donating only $2,000 by donating to your candidate 100 such coins. Of course, the campaign's treasurer, after writing you a receipt for that amount, can go to a coin store and sell those coins for well over $30,000. Want to be up to date? Use the $50 face value American Gold Eagle. Prefer silver? Give 'em two thousand American Silver Eagles (only about $14K, but what the heck). You see, to avoid having US Minted coins face duties when exported to foreign countries, the Congress made them legal tender in 1985. (Previously, the 1792 Mint Act recognized constitutional language making gold and silver coins legal tender.) So, there is no controversy: gold and silver coins are legal tender. Use their laws against them. If, you know, you really think these elections will do you any good. And where do you get such coins? http://cambist.net/ of course. [e-gold-list] RE: Latvian Debit Cards
-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE- Hash: SHA1 The Financial and Capital Market Commission hereby informs that the Latvian legislation prohibits opening of accounts whose holders have not been fully identified and any such activity is in conflict with the Latvian Law on the Prevention of Laundering of Proceeds Derived from Criminal Activity. BTW, AFAIK this has always been the case and this law is not a new one but should date back several years. The banks were just ignoring it and it seems that abovementioned commission turned a blind a eye on the issue too (until now). The moral of the story: take your time and spend your money to study the law. Banks are as eager to brake it, when it makes them money but you might be the one left holding the hot potato. In the new phase the banks are smarter and instead of braking, they are making the law. When the size is moderate spend fees are small in comparison with the transaction. However, when the transaction size is a small fraction of a cent spend fees can approach 40% of the spend. This percentage of fee increase is necessary because while transaction costs are small they become increasingly significant with small spends. [e-gold-list] Elliot Wave Theory and Gold
Despite the appearance this week of a bullish article on gold using Elliot Wave analysis on Gold Eagle (Clive Maund's Gold Trends - Elliot Wave Analysis http://www.gold-eagle.com/editorials_02/maund110602.html), orthodox Elliot Wave Theory is still extremely bearish on gold.
