[e-gold-list] Re: Theft!!!!!!!!!!!!!

2001-04-17 Thread David Reed

It would really depend on when the customer's spends were
made.

If they are recent, then I would suggest the customer give
further
information so that assistance may be given.

Judging by the amount of $750, if the spends were made
sometime in
November or December of last year, it was actually a spend
into the
former ee-bizventures program on their $375 level. EBV
changed that
particular account to the "legal defense fund" when they
claimed that they
were facing legal difficulties and required everyone to make
a spend to
keep their program going.

It would certainly be helpful for someone making such a claim
to provide
additional information instead of hitting the list with vague
threats.

Just what legal defense fund do you suppose this refers
to? Perhaps it is for some scam and this guy doesn't realize
that e-gold has nothing to do with it.

[e-gold-list] Fw: Re osgold.com

2001-03-24 Thread David Reed

Michael,

For the sake of not missing any of your points, I included
your
text along with my replies in ( )

There is no email on the site, no names or anyway you can
establish who is
behind it.

(On the front page, it lists the two corporations behind it.
More contact
information will be added tomorrow, as the service just
launched)

No indication of where 'the gold' is. Just says in an
'offshore bank'
(There are two banks involved, one in Panama, where the
company home
office is, and another in Latvia)

The osgold site has their own e-gold account number which
is:
273002.

I opened a test account with osgold and attempted a spend
from one of my
e-gold accounts of 50 cents.

The transaction went through as there was a 50cent deduction
from my e-gold
account.

It did not appear in the osgold account and an error message
came up
encouraging me to 'try again'

When I saw that I rolled on the floor laughing.

(Our technicians are working on this difficulty. 99% of
transactions have gone
through and credited the customer's account. The 1% that have
not have been
credited to a customer's account within 16 hours)

I then went to their support page which has a feedback form
on and filled
that out with the complaint that my 50 cents had disappeared.

I got an auto responder come back from a [EMAIL PROTECTED]
which I located
came from Malaysia (It may be from elsewhere of course and
bounced).

(The server is in Malaysia)

My conclusion from this,

1) Is that osgold is an attempt to collect spends from
e-gold accounts.
There is no apparent way you can spend the osgold to any
merchants, only to
other osgold account which I imagine would be very few.

(You would be VERY wrong on this statement, as in the last 24
hours, over 2200
new accounts have been created. When e-gold first launched,
I don't remember
seeing a list of merchants waiting to accept e-gold as
payment either. We have
actually already set up several service providers who will
accept OSGold for payment.
The site just launched, and these things take time.)

2) Looks like osgold is piggy backing off e-gold. e-gold
might want to have
a look at that. Osgold is not professing to be a market
maker but an
'e-gold' in its own right.

(OSGold is a clear alternative to e-gold. We do not wish to
"piggyback" off of
anyone. We merely provide e-gold exchange as a benefit to
our customers, much
the same way many offshore banks now do the same. many of
the market makers,
whether approved by e-gold or private, are now accepting
exchanges from different
payment alternatives.)

(It actually amazes me that one would suggest that e-gold
might want to have a look
into what we are doing. By all means, everyone should have a
look. But, the mere
statement you made does imply a certain impropriety on our
part, which is unfounded.
E-Gold provides payment services. OSgold is just one step in
a whole suite of services
which will be offered to the public over the next several
months.)

3) I would steer clear of Osgold until their bona fides can
be established
if possible.

(Bona fides can, and will, be established. Like I said
befre, the site is young, and just
launched officially yesterday. There is much work still to
be done. If a person would
feel better waiting until that work is done to create an
account with OSGold, then by
all means that is what they should do.)

I know what is in store for the future of One Groupe
International, but it takes time to
prove it and that is what will be done. We will prove it day
by day.

David

[e-gold-list] Re: Re osgold.com

2001-03-24 Thread David Reed

Sidd,

First of all, I would like to say that I appreciate your
comments, as I can
always count on you to look into the technical side of a site
with the most
critical eye I have EVER seen in a discussion list.

Your use of "snippets" to create a whole picture is quite
amazing. You
have taken several different ideas/plans for the future and
attempted to
roll them into this one site.

I have included your comments, each followed by mine in ( ).

He wants us to send our MONEY to him but he gives ABSOLUTELY
NO
representation about how he will deal with our money. There
are NO
terms and conditions, agreements or any other guarantees or
other
legal requirements on the site.

(The legal requirements are on the site at
http://www.osgold.com/services/terms.html)

Look at these Classic snippets from the web site:

"An OSGold Account is an online monetary system which allows
you to
convert money to gold, and then retain it online"

hm... and then...

"Store your GOLD in an Offshore Bank, where a transfer is as
easy as
clicking a button, and you immediately begin to earn a very
nice
interest on that gold. Your gold is immediately converted to
a cash
value to protect you from the fluctuation in gold prices.
Yet, you
can convert back to OSGold at any time FOR FREE"

Ah... so now the gold I am retaining on line is actually CASH
to
protect against gold price changes... so what is it then,
online gold
or online cash?! Is there REALLY any gold there at all? The
gold is in
an offshore Bank?!? You earn "a(sic) very nice INTEREST" on
your
gold??! This is at least educational :)

(You write this as if it is included in the site description,
but it is actually in the
coming soon category where we discuss the future services
which will be available.
The gold you put into the OSGold site will remain as gold,
and the goldbank is
another site alltogether.)

"Investigate new opportunities, where your principal is
guaranteed,
where due diligence has been accomplished...where scams don't
exist..."

(This, again, is from the coming soon page and there will be
legitimate investment
opportunities offered through another site as well.)

Wow, now we're in heaven!

And just as an interesting aside (amidst the thousands of
other
questions going through my head) the security is done by HEN
Inc.???

(Just wondering, what is interesting about this?)

It may be going too far to call this a scam, but lets face
it, there
is no way this set up elicits TRUST!

Maybe I am just suspicious?

(Too suspicious, no. Jumping to false conclusions based on
the improper use
of small site snippets, YES.)

The site will be fully updated with all necessary contact
information this week.
One thing that I would ask is this:

You are basing a lot of trust issues on the fact that there
is no contact information.
With e-gold, the information is provided. Yet you may still
wait a week or two to
receive a reply from them. Actually, you may never receive a
reply from them when
asking questions about your account. In a little over 24
hours, our support team has
answered/resolved over 500 inquiries and questions. We
actually GUARANTEE a
24 hour turn around time for response to questions.

You mentioned in an earlier post that the site is
unprofessional. When, in truth, the site
was not designed for the technical mind. The site was
designed for users who are fed up
with "technically sound" sites and unnecessary clutter. What
you call unprofessional, our
users are calling a breath of fresh air.

Yes, the site still needs work. And yes, there will be full
contact information given on the
site over the next few days along with the many other updates
we have planned.

At the same time, our straightforward approach and simple
design has attracted the creation
of over 2500 new accounts in the 30 hours the site has been
open for business. While you
may be unfamiliar with One Groupe International, the Internet
at large is familiar with us and
we have already built a relationship of trust with our
current clients.

Rome was not built in a day, and neither was E-Gold, Amazon,
Yahoo, AOL, or any of the
other successful Internet sites.

Warmest regards,

David
