Filing of tax forms is mandatory if the sources or amounts of your income require it under IRS provisions (many of those who do not think so have found out different in front of a judge). Interestingly, however, you cannot be compelled to give testimony against yourself. Tax forms signed and submitted by you are considered testimony, not evidence, should you ever be brought to trial based on your filings. Therefore, if you have income (especially income from possibly illegal sources) you do not wish to declare you are legally empowered to assert you 5th Amendment privilege on your filing. I object to this request and will not comply. Individuals are not required to have socialist security numbers, and many do not for religious and other reasons. (For example, King David was rebuked by God for enumerating his people. He only had to suffer three days of plague or pestilence; I doubt if the USA is going to get off that easily.) One of my favourite Bible passages, which i often print up in fliers and plaster around come census time, is: And Satan stood up against Israel, and provoked David to number Israel, And David said to Joab and to the rulers of the people, Go, number Israel from Beersheba even to Dan; and bring the number of them to me, that I may know it. . . . Dear CafePress, 1) US tax laws require that we send 1099's to members receiving more than $600 per year. That's only true if you are a taxpayer and the members are taxpayers. we would like to ask everyone to help by filling out the information the IRS requires online. Taxation in the United States is voluntary, and compliance is strictly voluntary. Your request is poorly stated, in that you suggest that the IRS requires something of me, or something of you. No such requirement is authorized by law. If you are in the United States, please log in and let us know your Tax ID (Social security number for individuals and FEIN's for corporations).
