You also don't have to worry about the merchant doing multiple spends, or a spend greater than what you authorized, out of your account. You also don't have to worry about somebody getting your card# and going wild with it. This somebody could be the waiter at some restaurant or some random person who went dumpster diving and got a trash bag full of receipts.
