Society for Freshwater Science (formerly North American Benthological
Society) promotes awareness and education about benthic invertebrates,
especially aquatic insects. Entomological Society of America is another
good contact for insect-related outreach.

services company, with expertise in the development and improvement 
of physical and social infrastructure for communities around the world.


Cardno is seeking a Staff Scientist/Botanist in our Sacramento, CA 
office to work with a multidisciplinary team of accomplished 
biologists, planners, hydrologists, geologists, and engineers on a 
variety of projects in California and the western United States.


Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

- Field survey team member to support various terrestrial (wildlife 
and botanical) and aquatic field surveys

- Assist with project research
- Assist with report writing
- Assist with data entry, compilation, analyses and presentations

Basic Qualifications:

- Bachelor's degree in environmental studies, natural resource 
management, planning or related field
- Botanical and wetland delineation experience, with terrestrial 
and/or aquatic survey experience preferred
- Knowledge of, and experience with, California flora and 
wildlife/avian species and habitats

- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Word and Microsoft Office Excel
- Willing and able to travel to field sites and other Cardno office locations
- Ability to work well independently and with a diverse, 
multi-disciplinary team in a fast-paced, team oriented work environment
- Strong time management and follow-through skills, with the ability 
to simultaneously work on multiple tasks/projects and meet project deadlines

- Self-motivated with strong initiative
- Detail oriented and resourceful
- Must work in Sacramento office
- Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without company sponsorship
