[ECOLOG-L] Postdoctoral Research Associate on Flow Ecology in Headwater Streams

2018-09-25 Thread Hitt, Nathaniel
*Postdoctoral Research Associate on Flow Ecology in Headwater Streams*

We seek a Postdoctoral Research Associate as part of a national,
interdisciplinary team investigating fish and benthic macroinvertebrate
community responses to flow variation in headwater streams. Predictive
spatial modeling of drought and flood effects is an important aspect of
this research problem. Candidates should have experience in stream flow
assessment, spatial modeling, and fish and benthic macroinvertebrate
ecology with an emphasis on species traits.

This GS-12 term position is supported for 2 years as part of an
interdisciplinary study in Shenandoah National Park (Virginia) with funding
by the National Park Service and the US Geological Survey. The position is
located at the USGS Leetown Science Center in Kearneysville, West Virginia,
and the target start-date is January 2019. To apply, send a cover letter,
CV, and contact information for references to Dr. Nathaniel (Than) Hitt <
nh...@usgs.gov>.

[ECOLOG-L] USGS Postdoctoral Research Associate: Climate change in headwater streams

2014-09-02 Thread Hitt, Nathaniel
We seek a Postdoctoral Research Associate as part of an interdisciplinary
team investigating headwater stream responses to climate change in the
Appalachian highlands. Groundwater-surface water interactions are an
important aspect of this research problem. Ideal candidates for this
position should have experience in geomorphology, GIS and LIDAR analysis,
and spatial statistical modeling techniques.

This position is supported for 2 years as part of an interdisciplinary
study in Shenandoah National Park (Virginia), Delaware Gap National
Recreation Area (Pennsylvania and New Jersey), and Catoctin Mountain Park
(Maryland). The project is funded by the National Park Service and the US
Geological Survey. The position is located at the USGS Leetown Science
Center in Kearneysville, West Virginia. To apply, send a cover letter, CV,

[ECOLOG-L] USGS Postdoc: climate change in headwater streams

2014-06-11 Thread Hitt, Nathaniel
*USGS Postdoctoral Research Associate on Climate Change in Headwater
Streams*

Headwater streams present new challenges for climate change research due to
the complex geophysical processes regulating stream temperature and flow.
We seek a Postdoctoral Research Associate to investigate the geomorphic
landscape features controlling stream sensitivity to climate variables in
the Appalachian highlands. An understanding of hyporheic flow dynamics is a
critical aspect of this research problem and will be a central research
objective of the project. Candidates for this position should have
experience in fluvial geomorphology, GIS and LIDAR analysis, and
statistical modeling techniques.

This position is supported for 2 years as part of an interdisciplinary
study in Shenandoah National Park (Virginia) and the Delaware Gap National
Recreation Area (Pennsylvania and New Jersey). The project is funded by
the National Park Service and the US Geological Survey. The position is
located at the USGS Leetown Science Center in Kearneysville, West
Virginia. To express interest, please send a cover letter, CV, and contact
information for 3 references to Nathaniel (Than) Hitt . Letters
of interest will be accepted until the position is filled.
