parution de son premier numéro de l’année 2021, « Matières vivantes »,
coordonné par Amina Damerdji, Anthony Pecqueux et Matthieu Renault.

Mis en ligne ces derniers jours, il sera disponible début mars au format
papier auprès de notre éditeur, ENS Éditions (n'hésitez pas à faire abonner

 vos institutions ou à commander

numéro dans toutes les bonnes librairies début mars), et en accès ouvert

Ce numéro de Tracés cherche à promouvoir des démarches scientifiques en
sciences sociales qui ont à cœur de rematérialiser leurs objets, de donner
vie à une matière trop souvent considérée comme inerte et de réexaminer les
rapports entre les mondes humains et non humains, au-delà des dichotomies.
S’appuyant sur les renouveaux tant empiriques que conceptuels portés par le
courant dit des « nouveaux matérialismes », ce volume entend les mettre au
travail sans craindre de les confronter à d’autres univers théoriques et
sans donner congé à des formes plus classiques de matérialisme non
réductionniste, en particulier issues de la tradition marxiste. Ce numéro
de Tracés dresse un panorama d’approches contemporaines de la matière en
empruntant trois directions complémentaires. La première se concentre sur
les enjeux scientifiques, éthiques et politiques de la prise en compte des
organismes vivants, humains et non humains, dans leur matérialité. La
deuxième s’intéresse aux relances et reconfigurations du matérialisme
historique quand il se trouve aux prises avec des problèmes qu’il avait,
certes, parfois anticipés, mais le plus souvent négligés. La troisième est
une plongée dans les diverses recompositions suscitées par ces perspectives
qui remettent radicalement en question les grands partages ontologiques et
épistémologiques et qui interrogent le statut et le rôle que jouent les
récits sensibles dans nos existences comme dans la fabrique du savoir.

*L’EXIL HISSÉ À LA CHARNIÈRE DES TEMPS*

Comment accueillir ? L’exil est souvent considéré comme une question, si 
ce n’est un problème d’espace : frontiérisation, politique des 
lointains… Cette année, notre séminaire s’attardera à considérer le 
temps de l’exil. Comment l’exil touche-t-il les fils du temps ? Fils 
tendus, effilochés, cassés, coupés, perdus, renoués, cousus, tissés, 
brodés… et le plus souvent emmêlés. Jamais l’exil n’est un seul présent. 
Quel passé emporte-t-il ? Qu’est-il à venir ? Quelles charges, quelles 
dettes, quelles marques, quelles traces, quels liens, quelles racines, 
quels germes de possible porte-t-il ?
Malgré l’exil, ou par lui, l’avenir s’enroule-t-il autour d’un passé qui 
ne passe pas, mais insiste au contraire obstinément ? Cette force 
coercitive ne nous donne-t-elle pas à reconnaître un noyau irréductible 
qui, résistant aux éphémères contingences, fait retour ? Comment ce 
retour pourra-t-il faire histoire ? Comment cette histoire pourra-t-elle 
être construite par ce que je suis en train de devenir ? Quelles 
constructions du passé permettront d’envisager l’à-venir ? Comment 
l’exil pourra-t-il alors se hisser à la charnière des temps ?
Par l’articulation de la philosophie et de la psychanalyse, nous 
considérerons comment un accueil peut s’ouvrir par une disponibilité aux 
histoires et à l’histoire. Nous le verrons, ce sont les inscriptions 
symboliques dans le langage, par la parole et l’écoute, et à travers les 
langues, qui donnent à être au monde dans le présent vivant, dès avant 
la naissance et jusqu’après la mort – nous sommes ici confrontés à des 
questions de survie.

The Research Project on Power, conflict and freedom: Spinoza and the paths
of modern and contemporary political philosophy on democracy* announces one
(1) postdoctoral position in the Philosophy Department, University of São
Paulo (USP), in:

- History of Early Modern Philosophy (17th century)

The fellowship lasts twenty-one months, beginning in May 2022. The Fellow
will be a Post-Doctoral member of the Department of Philosophy, and will
join the research activities of the Research Project (research seminars,
conferences, meetings and elaboration of scientific reports). This
fellowship corresponds to a research position, with no teaching
responsibilities attached.

The fellowship is sponsored by FAPESP. The chosen candidate will earn R$
7.373,10 (Brazilian currency) per month, tax free.

DOCUMENTS REQUIRED
Applicants should have completed the PhD in Philosophy, but, as required by
FAPESP, not at the University of São Paulo. The PhD should have been
completed preferably no earlier than 2017. For the position, the applicant
must include:
- an updated Curriculum Vitae;
- copy of PhD certification (diploma or other official document).
- a statement of proposed research (no more than 10 pages, plus 1 separate
page for bibliography), specifying the topic(s) to be studied, including a
research schedule, a list of expected publications and their connection
with the theme of the main project;
- a writing sample (dissertation chapter or other paper);
- one letter of recommendation.

All documents (in PDF) should be uploaded to the address below. Candidates
will be notified by e-mail once their dossier has been processed (please
provide an e-mail address in the application).

All dossier materials and the selection committee's evaluations remain
confidential. The committee is not able to provide feedback on individual
applications.

**Power, conflict and freedom: Spinoza and the paths of modern and
contemporary political philosophy on democracy*
Abstract: Three moments are decisive in the constitution of political
philosophy: the one that Moses Finley called “the invention of politics” to
refer to the birth of Greek democracy and the Roman republic; the one
defined by Machiavelli through the original division of society between the
desire of the Great to oppress and command and that of the People to be
neither oppressed nor commanded; and the one which, with Spinoza,
introduced the modern idea of democracy as an immanent power of the
multitudo or collective power of creation and expression of rights. These
three moments open the field of the history of the invention of the
republic and democracy as an exercise of freedom and invention of rights,
politics being effected as a passage from the logic of force to the logic
of power, that is, from war to legitimacy of conflict under laws. Of these
three founding moments, we will take as point of reference the modern
conception of Spinozistic origin. By means of this we will examined, on the
one hand, the political significance of the emergence of modern ideas of
individual and natural / civil right, and, on the other hand, the
continuities and ruptures in political thought brought about by
contemporary philosophy – that is, the development of ideas of class
struggle, of state, of power and of violence. We believe that it is
possible to find there a tradition within which Spinoza’s political thought
gains a new light, a tradition designed by contemporary authors who, like
Spinoza, in so far as they were concerned to mark the legitimate instance
of the conflict, searched for support in the ancients and Machiavelli in
order to understand the political participation of the citizens under the
aegis of the struggle for guarantee and conquest of new rights, having as

"An Intuitionist Reasoning Upon Formal Intuitionist Logic: Logical Analysis
of Kolmogorov’s 1932 Paper"
Abstract: Two dichotomies are considered as the foundations of a scientific
theory: the kind of infinity—either potential or actual-, and the kind of
organization of the theory—axiomatic or problem-based. The original
intuitionist program relied on the choices of potential infinity and the
problem-based organization. I show that the logical theory of Kolmogorov’s
1932 paper relied on the same choices. A comparison of all other theories
sharing the same foundational choices allows us to characterize their
common theoretical development through a few logical steps. The theory
illustrated by Kolmogorov’s paper is then rationally re-constructed
according to the steps of this kind of development. One obtains a new
foundation of intuitionist logic, which is of a structural kind since it is
based on and developed according to the structure of the above mentioned
two fundamental choices. In addition, Kolmogorov’s illustration of his
theory of intuitionist logic is an instance of rigorous reasoning of the
intuitionist kind.
