I installed libavcodec to get h263.  If you run ekiga -d 1 you will get
errors for unusable codecs, they are pretty straight forward.

I installed libopal3.4.1-plugins-non-free after installing Ekiga stable from 
the snapshot server. So should I try to reinstall Ekiga after installing

Regarding to the codecs, I've also noticed that in the latest ubuntu
snapshot, this codecs are not included. I guess is a compilation error or
so. Just try different snapshots or compile it yourself.
I compiled the svn trunk code yesterday following specific instructions for
ubuntu and these codecs were included.
