Hi,

We are not affiliated to Nabble.

I guess you should unsubscribe from there... I don't know what Nabble

Seems commercial (adfree ATM) and located in California (USA).

IMHO : don't use it.

[Ekiga-list] CVS

2006-09-13 Thread George
Damien,

I decided to try to play with the cvs version of ekiga. I made sure
there where no ekiga, pwlib. or opal components left over from other
installs.

Opal and Pwlib both compiled fine, no problems. But when trying to
compile ekiga, configure complains that the opal and pwlib versions
don't match want it wants.

So, I'm not sure if there needs to be a change in the ekiga configure
script or opal cvs and pwlib cvs are not reporting the versions ekiga is
looking for.

Not sure, but I guess you used some tgz or so. For Ekiga CVS always
(except otherwise noted) make sure you use PWLib CVS HEAD and Opal CVS
HEAD (Ekiga's configure checks the version tag for CVS HEAD version
number).

Good.

Where did you get your sources ? We seem to have problems with outdated
cvs packages lately... so if you pwlib&opal sources come from there,
they won't be any good.

Don't -- the checks are precisely there to avoid building a broken ekiga.

I got the CVS from http://snapshots.seconix.com/index.php using Damien's
sources.

So where do I go to get the Head for the programs?

These tarballs are outdated. I attached a shellscript to get PWLib and
Opal HEAD by cvs. Ekiga CVS is on cvs.gnome.org:/cvs/gnome module
"ekiga".

Thanks for the info. However, I'm really not familiar with doing things
this way. Would it be possible to send me your shell scripts? Also how
do you connect to cvs.gnome.org:/cvs/gnome module "ekiga". I tried using
my browser and it doesn't like the address at all :)

Uh... may I suggest that you don't try CVS? I'm not sure you're ready

The shell script for CVS PWLib/Opal was *attached* to the previous
mail. Infact it's only one cvs login command, one logout, and two co's
(checkout).

Yes, I didn't see it in my mailer. I got it and it works fine, thank

my mind just went blank. I have it all now and I appreciate your help

Re: [Ekiga-list] CVS

2006-09-13 Thread George
Thanks for all the help. Everything compiled correctly. But now when I
start Ekiga it says it can't find any usable audio plugins. And also
says it can't find my cam.

I installed it like this:

Pwlib - ./configure --prefix=/usr --enable-plugins && make && make
install

Opal - ./configure --prefix=/usr && make && make install

Ekiga - ./autogen.sh --prefix=/usr --sysconfdir=/etc/ && make && make
install. (tried with and without --prefix=/usr)

Is this a bug or did I do something wrong in the way I installed it?

That sounds buggy. Julien knows something about it (if it is/should
be/will soon/whatever fixed).

I'm not sure I know something about it : looks like an installation issue...

But I don't like discussing cvs HEAD on the normal user list.

Remember : cvs HEAD is bleeding-edge. Really bleeding. And sometimes off
the edge. It's not ready for anyone generally, especially those days.

Do you know if the ekiga group will have time, or need to put back up

Check this :

Re: [Ekiga-list] call recording / ekiga too tightly on ALSA?

2006-09-13 Thread Mario Rossi
What about the "file" plugin of ALSA? Supposedly, it would allow you
to record what you hear, then you can record with "arecord" your voice
in an other file, provided you are using the dmix plugin.

There is an example here

http://linuxgazette.net/128/lg_tips.html#2-cent-tips.4

In alsa.conf there is another pcm devide called pcm.tee which looks to
be exactly what it is needed, but i don't really know how to use it.

I've seen that alsa 1.0.11 has a bug, affecting Ekiga. What exactly is
affected by this problem?
I ask it, because it is not too easy to change the alsa library (like
suggested) in a distribution like Fedora where there are plenty of
dependencies around. Maybe with the upcoming 2.6.18 (and alsa 1.0.12
rc something) the problem will be solved with new RPMs.
