That is most probably incorrect. there is no reason why you would have
to use the IP address instead of the FQDN.

That's because your router is dropping SIP messages, so it doesn't
receive them and is waiting for a timeout before dropping the call.

I really suggest you read the FAQ and understand what happens.

I have some experience in setting up Asterisk and have of course
gotten Ekiga to talk to Asterisk. I'm willing to write about how I did
it, but I'm unsure as to whether this is what you had in mind in this
context.

Also. I have no experience whatsoever in using a wiki ;-)

Hi.

I highly appreciate a paper on this topic. I'm not sure where it should
go: wiki.ekiga or distro specific documentation, or both (generic on
wiki.ekiga and more step-by-step specific to distro).

> Also. I have no experience whatsoever in using a wiki ;-)

Using a wiki is mostly simple, I can do it. I just need a review about
my poor english and I will translate to french...

Je ne peut pas le faire en francais mais je vais le faire en anglais.
Pardon my French! I'll write something up and send it directly to you.
Then you can decide where it should go. OK?

That's not right. SIP is SIP and the FAQ is not Ekiga.net centric, not
at all.

"If it reports "Cone NAT" or "Port Restricted NAT" you just have to
answer "yes" to the dialog asking you to activate STUN support. You do
not have to do anything else. You will be reachable from the outside."

So you have to answer "yes" :)

I have read most of the FAQ, but it mostly only explains how to set up
things with ekiga sip abbo. But i use a custom one.

Ekiga detects that i have a Port Restricted NAT and that i don't have to
configure anything.

Nice french words. Just one small mistake : Je ne peux pas. Thx you :)

Ok, send it to me. It would probably go at least to wiki.ekiga (in a
general fashion), in unbuntu documentation (english and french in a
step-by step fashion, as i can test it and i will install edgy on dual
boot for that purpose having it for dapper and edgy). Debian is very
close. If someone wants to help on his own distro, feel free to mail
here :). The important point is to have installed it and having it
running some tests. I will provide a way on the wiki pages to send us
feedback using IRC or this mailling list. By the way, translation is
also wanted.
