[Ekiga-list] Ekiga does not start
Hello, I have ekiga from the current Debian unstable (it's version 2.0.3). One day I had to restart my computer and since then ekiga does not start anymore. I tried ekiga-config-tool --clean but this did not help. Using another user account (e.g. a new create one) ekiga is running perfectly. Does anybody has an idea what's happening here and how to fix it? I would be happy not to create a new user account and migrating all my settings to the new one. Did you try to run gconf-editor and see if the key /apps/ekiga/general/user_interface/start_hidden is active ? (there should be a way to display that pair key/value from CLI, but I don't remember it) If yes either deactivate it, either try to check if your notfication area is still active in your panel. As for me, I have a bit different settings:
auth enable;
encrypt enable;
#
security auto;
cut
rfcomm0 {
# Automatically bind the device at startup
bind yes;
I have had to go thru pairing process. And after, when switching on the
HS, i might notice in syslog, that it initiates communication with PC.
What is strange, that's message saying about channel 2, and you
configured all for channel 1. Can you issue hctool cc to heasdet? (and
what happens then).
If problem persists, prepare to look at soft versions: bt-sco, kernel,
etc. We will compare (i had some trouble with latest bluez and had to
return to earlier version). At the moment I don't have my headset
anymore, but i may try to experiment on my Nokia cellphone.

Thanks for the help. I was finally able to get it working by deleting
ALL the bluez and bluetooth stuff and reinstalling. I was able to get
the devices to pair. However, the results were very poor. Apparently
ALSA doesn't play well together with bt-sco anymore.
Every time I tried to use Headset for my mic and audio, the programs
(Ekiga, Skype, XMMS, etc) would connect and I could hear about the first
second then the programs would lock up. So I don't know if the mic was
ever really working.
I don't know if it makes any difference, but the dongle was stereo and
my Motorola headset was mono. I might try again later if I can find a
stereo headset.

Is accessibility enabled ? shouldn't. In the Gnome preferences I found: Keyboard accessibility features Assistive Technologies both are disabled. Clicking through the items in gconf-editor I notices the following: After I entered /apps/ekiga/general/user_interface/calls_history_window absolutely no values are displayed anymore, only the key names - for every key in gconf. Restarting gconf-editor leads to values appearing again (until I enter the directory above again). This seems a bit strange and does not happen with a newly created (Unix) user account.
