Re: [Ekiga-devel-list] Ekiga account creation in druid

2007-07-30 Thread michel memeteau
Hi Vincent , this is really good news.

2007/7/30, Vincent Luba [EMAIL PROTECTED]:

As I said on the IRC channel, I chose not to use directly ser XML-RPC. I
rather use a script on server side (I think it gives service provider more
 flexibility).

I agree and migration to openser won't break already done work.

I have a working version on my laptop, now I'm working on the layout and
other enhancement. Then I will need to have the server side script
 integrated on ekiga.net.

Feel free to post it if you need more testing ,

It's a pity we d'ont have a standardized way to register as in Jabber , do
you know if this knid if think on the way ?

As the OpenSer migration will wait a bit I guess, I ve checked the XML-RPC
 through SER

 http://www.iptel.org/rpc_xml_rpc

I'll tell you next week if my first test works. I've also seen that Gizmo
is using openser and doing account creation inUI so they can help us I
 guess..

DO you know other SIp softphones that create accounts on the fly ?

Yes but look how gizmo did it , you need to fill the same captcha on
the website or on the client . So using captcha in the php request by
default could be good I guess , but I'm not an expert for this .

If nobody tried it I could give a try , What do people think about
   this feature ? Useful ? Necessary ?

Having a registration system client/server through the druid would be
  nice, yes. (Without a captcha)

Hi Manuel,

the deeper reason for your problem is, that your driver does NOT tell
that there is no support for that resolution. It tells everything is
okay but it sends a cropped picture. Ekiga can't see the difference of
a faked resolution and a real resolution, of course.

Maybe Luc has some further comments about it.

That's weird. Any hints in the logs that your registration didn't
succeed (General History)? Maybe also a copy of ekiga's -d 4
(commandline switch) output is useful.

you are charging for a service that I can get for FREE!

 NO THANKS

Then don't do it. I'm sure you read carefully and saw that the PC2Phone
feature is nothing essential you need to work with. If you don't need
it, then don't use it. Ther are many free SIP providers around, the
application Ekiga is *not* bound to any of them, even if the druid
(ekiga.net as provider) or some extra window (diamondcard.us as
provider) help to configure it.

Where's your actual problem? If you need help in not clicking something
you do not need, then this is the wrong address to ask for.

If you know a SIP provider that routes calls to PSTN, without taking
one cent for it, then other users may be interested in and you could
announce it on some mailinglist.

Summary of the above: Ekiga (the application) itself is a normal
configurable softphone and doesn't care at all which SIP providers you
configure there. It is not bound to any specific provider.

Please direct possible further notes about Ekiga to the Ekiga user
mailing list, the email address you just wrote to is a technical
support address for ekiga.net (a SIP provider), not for Ekiga (the
application). I'll CC the list.

[Ekiga-list] Ekiga and freephonie.net (free.fr SIP service)

2007-07-30 Thread yannick
Hi,

As some french users may already know, the french ISP free.fr has a SIP
service builtin and lately added some new protection feature breaking
the SIP standard, thus rendering Ekiga unusable.
This has been worked by the dev and thanks to them, Ekiga is now again
compatible with this service:
I just tested last development snapshot of Ekiga and I've been able to
place a call to a landline phone.
I also tested the last stable release 2.0.9 and it didn't work.
Thus I pretty sure I have the problem and the SVN version solve it :)

Regards,
Yannick
