[Ekiga-devel-list] Windows binaries with h264 and speex support
Dear folks, I am new to the list and have been trying to catch up a bit with what is going on here via the archive. I am looking for windows binaries with support for h264 and speex for testing purposes. I am posting here (and not the user list) since it seems that this is part of the trunk, i.e. the coming 3.0 release and not of the official 2.x releases. I have come across the nightly builds that were produced up to a certain time, but none of them has been working for me. I have been copying SDL.dll to the gtk directory as instructed, but could not get any binary from the snapshot to work. They all crash when starting. Could somebody point me at a binary that I can try? It can be an older one, as long as it has support for h264 and speex. I can cope with buggy binaries and would be happy to report bugs that I find. I just want to test the binaries and especially the video and audio quality. Thanks in advance. /Emmanuel begin:vcard fn:Emmanuel Frecon n:Frecon;Emmanuel org:FamilyPhone AB adr;quoted-printable:;;=C3=85rsta=C3=A4ngsv. 1A;Stockholm;;10132;Sweden email;internet:[EMAIL PROTECTED] title:Chief Architect tel;cell:+46707333263 note:This transmission may contain information that is privileged, confidential, legally privileged, and/or exempt from disclosure under applicable law. Hi Emmanuel! I am looking for windows binaries with support for h264 and speex for testing purposes. You are not alone! I have come across the nightly builds that were produced up to a certain time, but none of them has been working for me. This is a two-fold issue: 1. The nightly snapshots weren't built anymore for Windows because the build was broken. They stopped somewhere between 2.0.11 and 2.0.12 IIUC. So even if they would work for you, they would probably not have the features which you require. 2. That they don't work for you at all is kinda strange. They always worked for me and others, but I know of at least one guy who had the same problem that you report (crashing upon startup) and none of the usual cures helped. I never found the problem, but what the guy told me was that after running this in Win95 compatibility mode, this worked. Not that this would be the solution, but can you give it a try, please? Could somebody point me at a binary that I can try? Which one have you been using? Unfortunately the download link for the officially released 2.0.11-BETA got lost on the site and I don't know where to find these binaries on the server and it does not allow directory listing. @Damien: Can you help, please? [Ekiga-devel-list] Win32 build of 3.0-trunk patched Makefile - WiP
Hi all! Attached please find an interim patch for the win32/Makefile reflecting how far I got before I will have to call it a day for today. Please use in conjuction with http://wiki.ekiga.org/index.php/Cross-compile_Win32 This patch fixes the following: * automake and friends are recognized (1.9 / 1.10 issue) * the Ekiga source code is checked out directly via Subversion and no longer fatched from a snapshot which hasn't been updated since Nov 7th, 2007. (In other words, you think you're compiling the trunk version, but you don't until you use this patch * the x264 stuff is not fetched from their new git repository. We fetch the latest version always. The Makefile which went to the videolan svn was getting a specific release before. * I commented out some patches which do not seem to exist anymore On git: Never used this before. Right now when I run make update-sources for a 2nd time, it complains about the dir being there already. On commenting out patches: I run into some errors which I have seen on the native build of trunk for Linux. Probably these patches had some cross-compile specific stuff. Need to research. Therefore (see subject line) this patch will not yet make the build work again, but I want to share my current state. I hope I am moving in the right direction. Re: [Ekiga-devel-list] Windows binaries with h264 and speex support
Hi Emmanuel! Could my problem come from the fact that I use a Swedish version of the OS? I don't think so. I have a German one and it works there. I also saw it working fine on a Bulgarian Windows XP. (Was quite suprised to see that a localisation for Bulgarian is available). I have switched to Linux (and compiling the trunk version on ubuntu). Let us know how well this works for you. There's a Wiki page on that subject as well, so feel free to share your experience. Regards, Torsten Hi Torsten, first of all, thanks for the patches. I will revise the windows build taking into account your patches next weekend (sorry, this needs some time I do not have right now) You pull Ekiga directly from svn instead of downloading the tarball. That is a first start, but we have to do this for ptlib and opal as well, since the tarballs of them are really outdated. Also we do not want to rebuild all dependencies if nothing has changed after a checkout. I will thus need to modify your patch, which needs some time. Also you have commented out many lines where I do not understand that it still works at all, e.g. the compilation of ptlib... Last thing I would like to add is that we should either specify whether to use aclocal 1.9 or 1.10 in a single place or even autodetect this... Re: [Ekiga-devel-list] [Ekiga-list] Ekiga 3.00 available for WIN32 *only*
Excellent news! I completely agree with this move - you discovered a hole in the market! There is just too much competition in VOIP under Linux while in fact all the Windows users just use one (rather crappy and limited) piece of software - apparently nothing better is available. Thus, I am absolutely sure that immediately after the release of Ekiga 3.0 for Windows, the majority of Windows users will adopt 3.0 because no current software for Windows can even touch the functionalities and capabilities of Ekiga 2, not talking about 3. The only major objection I have is that you should be more looking into future and not release WIN32 but rather WIN128. This new platform is going to dominate the world in the coming centuries and it would be a pity if Ekiga lost this market just because it concentrates on the old WIN32. So: release Ekiga 3 for WIN128 only and as shareware only and the success is inevitable. - Originálna Správa - Od: Damien Sandras Komu: Ekiga mailing list , ekiga-devel-list Poslaná: 01.04.2008 21:57 Predmet: [Ekiga-list] Ekiga 3.00 available for WIN32 *only* Hello, I just put the news on http://www.ekiga.org : Due to the big popularity of the Microsoft Windows operating system compared to the GNU/Linux desktop, we have decided to put all our efforts on the WIN32 port of Ekiga. [Ekiga-list] freeze with Microdia webcam
Hi all, I'm running Ekiga 2.0.11 on Debian lenny and it works fine. It worked well with the webcam too, but after an update of the webcam module (uvcvideo), ekiga now freezes if the camera is connected. If I start ekiga while the camera is disconnected, it works without problems. But as soon as I connect it, ekiga's CPU usage jumps to 100% and the GUI stops responding. However, if I unplug the camera things go back to normal after a couple of seconds. I even get to see the last frame captured by the webcam before the jumping ball image replaces it. [Ekiga-list] Ekiga 3.00 available for WIN32 *only*
Hello, I just put the news on http://www.ekiga.org : Due to the big popularity of the Microsoft Windows operating system compared to the GNU/Linux desktop, we have decided to put all our efforts on the WIN32 port of Ekiga. Due to the increased amount of work and the lack of spare time, Ekiga 3.00 will only be released for WIN32. While Ekiga 3.00 will stay free (as free beer), it will be the last version to be completely free. From Ekiga 3.20, Ekiga will become a shareware with a small license fee to use either Ekiga or its associated platform Ekiga.net. The money that it will generate will finally allow us to live from our project instead of spending countless hours for free on it. -- _ Damien Sandras (o- //\Ekiga Softphone : http://www.ekiga.org/ v_/_ NOVACOM : http://www.novacom.be/ FOSDEM : http://www.fosdem.org/ SIP Phone : sip:[EMAIL PROTECTED] ___ ekiga-list mailing list ekiga-list@gnome.org http://mail.gnome.org/mailman/listinfo/ekiga-list

Re: [Ekiga-list] Ekiga 3.00 available for WIN32 *only*
Excellent news!
