Yeah, after a minute of waiting for some kind of response. The DiamondCard website, by the way, claims that I've successfully made a 30 second call to 441---but I don't hear anything from Ekiga, and the call panel still says Standby. Maybe it's a sound problem, but clicking the Play button in the Sound Events preferences window works just fine, and I've tried setting the audio devices to both Default and the name of my hardware sound device in ALSA, with no change. Clearly not an Ekiga problem; I guess it's time to go config diffing... If anyone's curious, here's the kernel config diff: http://pastebin.com/mc70b16a The left side is for my old kernel, 2.6.23-gentoo-r9, and the right side for the new-but-broken kernel, 2.6.24-tuxonice-r9. Nothing leaps out at me as Hey, I'm going to break your networking!, but I have had other networking-related problems (NetworkManager stalls out on me, Firefox insists that I'm in offline mode on startup) with this kernel, which have also vanished now that I've reverted. Moral of the story, I guess: don't do software upgrades concurrently with kernel upgrades. Damien, thanks for all your help; Ekiga 3 is beautiful and I'm delighted that it's working for me now. hi, i installed in kubuntu hardy and the diagnostic: - i needed install V4L plugins manually for recognize creative notebook webcam - i needed run the druid configuration wizard because all sound config was marked like SILENT or NULL.. after that always was ok, so - the [EMAIL PROTECTED] call was placed without problems, even video...BUT - with a real call between another ekiga user under windows version and me the voice was perfect but not video. For each of us, the [EMAIL PROTECTED] call usually works normally with both audio and video. But with rare exceptions, video does not work in either direction if either of us calls the other, though audio is fine. My suspicion has been that it's a kernel bug since I've seen some flaky behavior associated with various applications accessing the webcam. The uvcvideo driver was only recently included in the kernel.
