Very true. But they all charge roughly around the same and are very

My computer is connected directly to my cable modem, and iptables -L -t

Is it possible that there's some latent configuration hanging around from

Yeah, after a minute of waiting for some kind of response. The
DiamondCard website, by the way, claims that I've successfully made a 30
second call to 441---but I don't hear anything from Ekiga, and the call
panel still says Standby. Maybe it's a sound problem, but clicking the
Play button in the Sound Events preferences window works just fine, and
I've tried setting the audio devices to both Default and the name of my
hardware sound device in ALSA, with no change.

Oh, hold on. I just restarted Ekiga and now I get the enable port

Hmmm. On experimentation, this popup appears about one time in three

Okay. I'm still confused since, as I mentioned, I don't have a router

router? (Unlikely; my IP address isn't on a subnet.) Or that my ISP is
blocking SIP ports? (More likely, but then how was Ekiga working before?)

Any tips on how to diagnose this?

Something like that! I reverted to an older kernel, and now both accounts
work beautifully. Clearly not an Ekiga problem; I guess it's time to go
config diffing...

If anyone's curious, here's the kernel config diff:

http://pastebin.com/mc70b16a

The left side is for my old kernel, 2.6.23-gentoo-r9, and the right side
for the new-but-broken kernel, 2.6.24-tuxonice-r9. Nothing leaps out at
me as Hey, I'm going to break your networking!, but I have had other
networking-related problems (NetworkManager stalls out on me, Firefox
insists that I'm in offline mode on startup) with this kernel, which have
also vanished now that I've reverted. Moral of the story, I guess: don't
do software upgrades concurrently with kernel upgrades.

Damien, thanks for all your help; Ekiga 3 is beautiful and I'm delighted
that it's working for me now.

webcam
- i needed run the druid configuration wizard because all sound config
was marked like SILENT or NULL.. after that always was ok, so

- the [EMAIL PROTECTED] call was placed without problems, even video...BUT

- with a real call between another ekiga user under windows version
and me the voice was perfect but not video. The webcam is recognized
but not functionally during the call

- without problems to start or quit properly

Hello,

I've made some packages for Ubuntu. Before uploading them on ekiga.org,
i would like to have some volunteers to test them. Do they install
properly? Run fine? Can you quit properly? Can you place a call to
sip:[EMAIL PROTECTED] ? Those kind of stuff.

I would also know if your settings are preserved during the upgrade from
2.0.x. (like your phone numbers...)

Give it a try while it's hot:

Re: [Ekiga-list] pc-to-phone recommandations?

2008-09-28 Thread Luis Davila
hi, personally i use diamondcard, and is really cheap for my main
destination, Guatemala, only 0.10$/min, while, for example, skype is
0.16$/min, and the quality voice with Ekiga/Diamond is better than
skype, at least in my case. good choice...

or user's experience? I'm wondering if this service is well suited (i
know skype's users having some troubles)

Thanks in advance,

I and my father have a similar problem with video with the Ekiga 2.0.12
in Fedora 9. We both have the same model UVC webcam. For each of us,
the [EMAIL PROTECTED] call usually works normally with both audio and video.
But with rare exceptions, video does not work in either direction if
either of us calls the other, though audio is fine. My suspicion has
been that it's a kernel bug since I've seen some flaky behavior
associated with various applications accessing the webcam. The uvcvideo
driver was only recently included in the kernel. Which driver does your
webcam use and is it considered stable?
