[Ekiga-list] "terminal" window is it normal?
Hello! I've just installed ekiga 3 on my uncles computer running windows, I'm not very familiar with that strange OS anyway as I know it is good OS for beginners. All seems to be working, but ekiga starts with opened "terminal" window. Is it normal? Is it possible to turn it off? -- Pozdrawiam, Jakub. Re: [Ekiga-list] Compile Problem Resolved sort of.
Brian, 1) I am still not able to compile. The libtool that gets generated in the ekiga-3.0.1 directory contains a mass of files that are hardcoded with /opt/gnome/lib. As mentioned previously on my particular system SUSE 11.1 32bit I do not have anything in /opt/gnome/lib. All the required files have been put into /usr/lib. I cannot see how to change this setup, so I am going to leave it for now( I may try a fresh install to see what happens). 2) I am able to leave it because I have just done yet another download of the SUSE supplied package and this time it has worked. This is because when you run the config assistant it now gives me the option to select UVC (camera id) (PTLIBV4L2). This option was not available previously. See below for the version I am running. Many thanks Eugen for your pointers. Hello, No, it's not the expected behaviour. I just checked the source code to be sure: New users are registered in the Ekiga.net service _before_ sending the confirmation e-mail. If there is any issue with the registration process in the service, the mail is not sent. Thus it should not be any delay once you got this e-mail preventing you to use the service. My guess is the timeout is due to another reason. To know what this reason is, we need a debug output from ekiga when this happen; following those instructions: http://wiki.ekiga.org/index.php/Debugging_Ekiga#How_to_get_a_debug_output_from_Ekiga Best regards, Yannick > > I did not find anything about it in the wiki or googling. > > Thanks for reading. > > ___ > ekiga-list mailing list > ekiga-list@gnome.org > http://mail.gnome.org/mailman/listinfo/ekiga-list > -- Me joindre en téléphonie IP / vidéoconférence ? sip:yann...@ekiga.net Logiciel de VoIP Ekiga : http://www.ekiga.org http://wiki.ekiga.org/index.php/Which_programs_work_with_Ekiga_%3F ___ ekiga-list mailing list ekiga-list@gnome.org http://mail.gnome.org/mailman/listinfo/ekiga-list

I understand this is the same problem Judith has now. It looked like Skype locked the sound device but I did not have a closer look (and as I say, I cannot reproduce the problem anymore). > > In this system, ringing is directed to the > default device, which is an alias for the > on-board Intel sound. Re: [Ekiga-list] Re (2): Re (2): Audio-Problems
Hello Actually I use Ekiga only for outgoing calls, not for incoming calls. Br Judith PETER EASTHOPE schrieb: Palo, ps> Ekiga audio did not work when Skype was running. Do you mean that you want to hear the ring from an incoming call to Ekiga while a Skype conversation is in progress? Or do you mean that the Skype daemon is merely idle in the background when Ekiga rings? In this system, ringing is directed to the default device, which is an alias for the on-board Intel sound. Sound-in and sound-out use a USB-audio adapter and headset. If Judith's system uses the same device for sound-out and for ringing, an incoming Ekiga connection during a Skype conversation would be problematic. Conclusion: separate hardware for sound out and for ringing is a worthwhile small investment. Regards, ...
