If anyone is interested, the scripts are available as rpm and tar.gz packages at ftp://mumin.dnsalias.net/pub/ekiga-callto/ . [Ekiga-list] Revisited: visual feedback when making dbus/cli calls
I'm currently using the Dbus interface to establish Ekiga calls. The basic functionality seems fine, but to my understanding there are some glitches: - When making an ekiga.Call(uri)/ekiga.Show() sequence, the call is indeed placed to the uri. Also, if there is no open window, a main window is opened. In this the hook is off (red phone), but the uri called is not reflected in the dialpad entry up-left. Net result from a visual, user perspective is some kind of invisible call (besides the history, where it eventually is listed). - If the window is open already, it's likely to be hidden by other windows. In this situation the Show() method seems to do nothing. I think it would be more intuitive if the window popped up after a Show() call instead of staying hidden in this situation. ___ ekiga-list mailing list ekiga-list@gnome.org http://mail.gnome.org/mailman/listinfo/ekiga-list
[Ekiga-list] Ekiga Logitech QuickCam Pro 9000
Has anyone had success using Ekiga with a Logitech QuickCam Pro 9000 (win32 version)? I tried it a few months ago, and on the echo test it produced pretty nasty loopback/echo/background noise suppression effects, as if the options in Ekiga had no effect. I decided to wait a couple of months and try again to see if new development resolved the issue, but had the same results. This Logitech is not at all an off brand or marginal product - in fact I paid a bit more to get it because of the good reviews I had read. It works fine in other apps and setup/calibration tests sound great. Any idea what might be the problem, or when Ekiga might have a chance of supporting it? No virus found in this outgoing message. Hi, Le samedi 07 février 2009 à 22:10 +0100, Raúl Z. Martínez a écrit : Hi everybody, I have found a strange problem with ekiga 3.0.1 and Opensuse 11.1. When I receive a call I can hear ekiga ringing, but the answer popup window which I was used to from earlier ekiga versions does not show up. Given that one cannot answer the call from the main ekiga window, the result is that I am unable to pick up. Initially I thought it must be a problem related to kde 4.2, which I am using in one of the computers... so I installed opensuse 11.1 again in a different computer, but this time using as default desktop kde 3.5. Same problem: ekiga 3.0.1 with kde 3.5 on opensuse 11.1 does not produce an answer window. I have tried upgrading to 3.0.2 with the same result. Anybody has experienced anything similar? I am thinking maybe the opensuse installation is missing some gnome library, but it is pure speculation. Ekiga 3.0.x can be compiled with libnotify support or without. If it is compiled with libnotify support, you get a nice notification in the notification area like in the following screenshot : http://gaim-libnotify.sourceforge.net/shot.jpg My guess is that Ekiga has been compiled with libnotify support, but for some reason, the notification can not be displayed. Re: [Ekiga-list] Cannot answer calls (no popup window)
Hi, I have the same setup opensuse 11.1 and ekiga 3.0.1 and get the same problem. The difference in my case is that it varies, 1) I have had the popup occur click on it and answer the call as normal. 2) The ring occurs and no popup 3) the ring occurs and it is ringing for an extended time and then the pop occurs. I have never seen the notification box in the tray. Is there a setting for this? To be clear I do have the icon in the tray which normally shows a green circle. When I answer a call it shows a set of headphones. Is it supposed to show something else? Thanks, Brian On Sun, 08 Feb 2009 08:38:29 +1000, Raúl Z. If it is compiled with libnotify support, you get a nice notification in the notification area like in the following screenshot : http://gaim-libnotify.sourceforge.net/shot.jpg My guess is that Ekiga has been compiled with libnotify support, but for some reason, the notification can not be displayed. Try running it in a terminal, perhaps there are warnings that could lead you to a solution. Hi Damien, and thanks for the response. Sorry, I forgot to mention that I had already tried the terminal, and running ekiga in debug mode(s) also, but didn't see anything suspicious (lots of messages related to ALSA and the video, but nothing that looked like it could be related to this when I receive a call). Additionally, I just finished a new opensuse 11.1 installation in a laptop and the same thing happens yet again! I did it mostly because both of the previous installations were done in 64 bits processors and I wanted to try with the 32 bit version of the distribution. No difference. Btw, one of the ekiga installations was downloaded -as binaries- from ekiga.org, so I am pretty sure the problem has to be related to Suse's system installation, not ekiga itself. I am very puzzled by the fact that nobody else has reported this here or in SuSE forums. If I have managed to find this problem in 3 out of 3 installations with different hardware somebody else must have seen it with this distribution. I have found reports of people who have it working, though. Anyway, I'll keep trying. Thanks again. - BA - ___ ekiga-list mailing list ekiga-list@gnome.org http://mail.gnome.org/mailman/listinfo/ekiga-list -- Using Opera's revolutionary e-mail client: http://www.opera.com/mail/ ___ ekiga-list mailing list ekiga-list@gnome.org http://mail.gnome.org/mailman/listinfo/ekiga-list
