It turns out all this was due to me trying to call a number without the
hostname - a full URI is needed, though oddly that seemed to fail when
I tried that. At least we've got to the bottom of it now...

ekiga registers with my asterisk setup, but when I try to make a call,
nothing shows on asterisk, and the call window appears briefly, showing
a status of "Standby", with the main ekiga window showing "Call
completed" on the bottom line.

It's happy with the camera, but calls all just plain fail - a window
comes up but the call never goes anywhere.

[Ekiga-list] ekiga 3.2.7-5+b1 - Debian wheezy - webcam problem

2012-10-03 Thread Phil Reynolds
The version of ekiga in Debian wheezy is not being very nice with my
laptop's webcam - one uvcvideo supports, ID 04f2:b2fe.

ekiga says it cannot set the resolution - but takes a firm hold and
prevents any other app from using it.

Provided ekiga is not running, the camera works normally.

[Ekiga-list] Ekiga 3.2.7 - falls off PBX, and on Linux, sometimes hangs

2011-04-05 Thread Phil Reynolds

I am using ekiga 3.2.7 on both Windows 7 and Debian squeeze.

I have noticed that, on both systems, after a while, ekiga has
unregistered from my Asterisk box. It will not re-register without
being closed down again first. On Debian, it fails to quit, leaving
its tray icon behind, and has to be killed.

Also, an effect I've only noticed on Debian so far, after making a
call, ekiga sometimes hangs when I hang up. It has to be forced to quit.

Is there anything I can do to fix this? I appreciate more information
might be needed - I will try to get it, given directions.
Alternatively, is it a known problem that will be fixed in a near
future release?

[Ekiga-list] ekiga 3.2.6 (Debian lenny backport) - not picking up microphone under alsa

2010-04-27 Thread Phil Reynolds
I have recently installed the Debian lenny backport of ekiga 3.2.6,
and have found that it does not work with a microphone connected to my
keyboard (Enermax KB-007U) under alsa, though other applications work
with it. ekiga can use it only under OSS.

I cannot see any obvious reason why that would be - can anyone advise?

Also, should it be possible for me to see the status of other users on
my asterisk server? It works with X-Lite, but does not do anything
with ekiga.

I am curious. What is the motivation for this? Is this similar to random

Possible SPIT attempts perhaps...

Still no h263 here even when I do that.

Please send the output of configure of opal.

Here's what it shows. I only get H.261 and theora:

With ekiga 2.*, I could send sip:number to my Asterisk box and it
would dial that number in the context. I have to put @fqdn on the
end now for that to work - is there, or will there be, a way to fix
this?

I think that this automatic completion was removed, in order to have
a proper address (think to e-mails: you put always the host address
too). However, it has now an autocompletion feature (à la firefox).

But you don't when mailing within the same system. Also, allowing a
bare number would make it more telephone-like. Not doing so will make
it difficult for another potential user here (not me).
