Re: [Elecraft] K3 - CW Paddle input failure
Blazing ahead, I found that RFC3 (100uh choke on the "dot" input) has opened up. besides infant part failure, I don't know what could have caused that - Unless it was my blazing cw speed on the last contest that was more than it could handle ;)!! Or perhaps they designed in a LID fuse!! Anyway, I guess I need to order me a single 100uh SMD choke. thanks for the replies. 73s, Pete 0 -- Pete Axson W4SEC 17901 NE 18th Ave Citra, FL 32113 __ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:Elecraft@mailman.qth.net This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html

[Elecraft] Elecraft CW Net Report for September 13th & 14th, 2009
Good Evening, Twenty meters had QSB on most callers though it was productive and fair to most locations. Weather reports were cooling off from what they had been last week. I even got a report of rain in California! There were sprinkles up here but not enough to prevent walking outside without a hat. I did lose one caller at the end of the first net. QSB was so bad it was hard to copy any letter sent. Each time I tried to copy the callsign it was different. The best idea I have for the call is WB0TH but I also copied NB0OP along with a few variations on each. Hopefully conditions will be better soon so I can work that operator. During my walks lately I have had to watch out for the orb spiders' webs. A week ago they were nowhere to be seen. This week they are everywhere I walk. Is this another sign of autumn? I only saw one foxglove blossom during my explorations. Makes me itchy to get all of my wood back to the house. I know winter won't be here for a couple months but heating season is upon me. I know I will have to cut three or four more cords but that will be for after January and into spring. I have more than enough good wood for the depths of winter but much of it is still a long way from the house. On to the lists => On 14050.5 kHz at 2300z: W6ZH - Pete - CA - K3 - 657 K1THP - Dave - CT - K3 - 686 KL7CW - Rick - AK - KX1 - 798 W0RSR - Mike - CO - K2 - 5767 W8OV - Dave - TX - K3 - 3139 WB5BKL - Nick - TX - K3 - 231QNI # 30!!! I would like to know who was calling after I closed the twenty meter net but due the heavy QSB I could not copy much. Oh well, next week the propagation will be different. It may even be better because the sun is setting sooner. Daylight savings time will not change for quite a while so the twenty meter net will be effected by the sun angle even out here. I hope it makes life better because I am not holding my breath for any sunspots to appear. With the way it has been acting lately I would turn quite blue! Until next week stay well, 73, Kevin. Re: [Elecraft] Need KAT2 Help
Don, Thanks again for the help. I think this is working and I will move ahead. I just need to install my new KNB2 and I should be ready to get the rig back in the operating position. I do not have a major gripe with the KAT-2 directions, but it could use an update. I have a fair amount of building experience at this point, and I found myself in 2 or 3 uncertain situations. But the end result is fine, as with all my other Elecraft builds so far. I continue to be very impressed with the design of the K2 and accessories. 73, Tom KG3V On Sep 11, 2009 1:53pm, Don Wilhelm wrote: > Tom, > Yes, the balance point is very 'touchy' - such is the situation anytime > you are trying to get a null (on any kind of equipment - the null range > is very small, and ideally is a single point). [Elecraft] K3 - CW Paddle input failure
I turned on my K-3 #3096 today and it seems that the paddle "tip" input has stopped working. The sleeve input works FB. I have swapped dits & dahs on the tip/ring in the menu, and the problem stays on the tip input. Checked my Paddle/cable - all is well there. Before I dive head first into troubleshooting, is there any known hardware/software/illegal menu settings that i might have missed? We have 440 AH of 6V golf cart batteries in our RV. Don't know what they weigh ... don't care. (:-) Pretty normal for a solar powered RV. We have no other power source. They power the K3, lights, vent fans, furnace blower, etc. and deliver 120 VAC @ 1500 W via a Trace inverter if needed. The inverter wants 90A from the batteries when delivering 1000 W. There's also a 12V DC @ 25A from a windmill when we're parked where there's wind. 73!
