Re: [Elecraft] K3 case
I use one of roses cases for the KX three, it is not a hard case but it makes it really easy to move around. (Don't forget to remove the little metal thing that holds the removable pallate) I don't think they would be strong enough for shipping around the world, but for carrying the rig around and preventing scratches or other damage, they work fine. 73, Terry, WB4JFI -Original Message- From: Richard Sent: Tuesday, June 10, 2014 9:41 PM To: Elecraft@mailman.qth.net Subject: [Elecraft] K3 case Dick, I use a case from Harbor Freight: Item #69315 They are about 20-$25 depending on whether you have a 20 or 25% coupon or not. Comes with adjustable dividers and removable inside lid storage. I use a foam sheet between the lid and radio. It fits my K3 nicely, leaves room for the mike and power cable. I use the cases for other radio stuff, organized by default. [Elecraft] K3 with MARS-ALE
Greetings! I’m hoping someone has configured their K3 to use PC-ALE or MARS-ALE and can share their knowledge. I have my K3 linked to my PC in 2 ways — via sound card (Signalink USB) and via RS-232. It works fine with FLDIGI and with M110A. Using the Kenwood radio settings I’ve progressed to the point of having it scan the frequencies in the appropriate QRG file. However, it behaves strangely — switching to SPLIT on some frequencies, for instance. If you’ve set this up successfully, I’d love to learn the particulars of how you did it! 73! mjh Michael James Hauan, ACØG - a...@hauan.org a...@winlink.org 573-823-7114 (c) __ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:Elecraft@mailman.qth.net This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html Message delivered to arch...@mail-archive.com
[Elecraft] K3 - macro needed for RX mute
I need a toggle style macro to mute/unmute the RX audio on my K3. When I get a phone call or someone comes in the radio room it is often necessary that I turn the audio down on the K3. Currently I use a button for setting AG000 - which effectively kills the RX audio - however, I must manually reset the audio with the AF gain pot. It would be much easier to push a toggle for mute and another to push to return to the original AF gain setting. I use a Pigknob with programmable buttons for rig control - including VFO. Note: I feed my speakers from the rear of the K3 and never use phones. Re: [Elecraft] K3 - macro needed for RX mute
Bill, I have my PF1 loaded with the following macro: MN097;DN;MN255; It toggles SPKR+PH on and off. I leave headphones plugged in all the time and usually use them, but you could still use this macro even if you don't use headphones. I have a similar macro in DXLab's Commander but I can use PF1 even if I don't have DXLab running. 73, Jim N7US -Original Message- I need a toggle style macro to mute/unmute the RX audio on my K3. The AF Gain pot works both ways. It can be used to turn down the gain as well as turn it up. Re: [Elecraft] K3 with MARS-ALE
Michael, I cannot help other than to confirm that I had the same issues with my K3 using MARS-ALE. I quit trying at that point and I didn't like all the rapid relay switching with the band switching. What little information I *did* find was from the MARS-ALE Yahoo Group. Good luck. 73, Joel - W4JBB On 6/12/14, 11:19 AM, Michael James Hauan wrote: Greetings! [Elecraft] K3 - macro needed for RX mute
I learned from a customer that you can set PF1 to toggle SPKR+PH without a specific macro: HOLD MENU for CONFIG, then rotate VFO B to SPKR+PH. Then hold the RIT/PF1 button. That assigns PF1 to toggle the current menu selection. Exit the menu, then try HOLDing RIT/PF1 a couple of times. 73 de Dick, K6KR -- snip - I have my PF1 loaded with the following macro: MN097;DN;MN255; It toggles SPKR+PH on and off. OK - got it to work. At first I thought it didn't - but I have now discovered there is a slight delay when toggling OFF. Now that I know that - all is good. Re: [Elecraft] K3 case
If you want something pretty bulletproof, try these surplus containers: http://store.colemans.com/cart/aviators-kit-boxcontainer-aluminum-p-260.html I have two of them. One I was able to fit a block of foam and cut it out so the K3 fits very nicely. If you tried to drop kick one of these, you'd break your foot. Use it to haul the rig to the field.
