[Elecraft] KRX3A for sale (new synth) - $635/shipped

2021-03-06 Thread Robert Brown via Elecraft
Late last year I purchased this off another amateur on the list (an
accomplished contester) but my plans have changed and I never installed this.
This subreceiver has the new synthesizer & 2.8 and 400Khz eight pole filters
plus all installation hardware except for the little ring pad that cushions the
top-mounted speaker (available from Elecraft). Shipped CONUS, $635. Bob Brown,

Re: [Elecraft] Offset when in SSB+CW on a KX2

2021-03-06 Thread Julia Tuttle
You're right -- the CW-in-SSB offset *is* the sidetone, which can be set
with PITCH. There's no separate setting, and also no way to turn it off.

If you're curious what you're putting out on the air, you may be able to
find a nearby kiwisdr to monitor your signal at http://rx.linkfanel.net/.

Re: [Elecraft] Offset when in SSB+CW on a KX2

2021-03-06 Thread Julia Tuttle
Yeah, that will happen.

In CW mode, the rig "lines up" the VFO frequency and your sidetone.

In USB mode, the rig uses the VFO frequency as the "edge" of the sideband,
and if you hear or send at your sidetone, you'll have to add that to the
VFO frequency to get the actual frequency of the CW signal. If you tune the
other station to match your sidetone and then call her, you *should* still
end up coming back on the same frequency -- it just won't be what's on your
screen.

If you want to make the math easier, you could set your sidetone to 500 Hz.
You might also try CW mode with the filter wide open, but it still tops out
at 2800 Hz instead of 4000 Hz, so it might not be wide enough for your
taste.

[Elecraft] Offset when in SSB+CW on a KX2

2021-03-06 Thread Bob Liesen
Hi gang,
Still learning about my KX2. One thing I think I screwed up while
struggling with getting digital mode A set up is the offset when running
SSB+CW mode. I like setting the radio to USB on 20m for instance, and then
using a key for TX. I like the wider RX bandwidth offered in USB on RX.
However, now when I tune in a CW station, and call him, it seems I am
quite a ways off his RX frequency. Any thoughts?

Tnx!
