Re: [Elecraft] Oh Crap

I have suffered the very same failure but on my K3. Despite extensive attempts
on my part, removing the dislodged tip has proven futile and it appears that
the female jack will need to be replaced. Removing it might help but it’s just
too finicky for me.

Re: [Elecraft] Oh Crap

2022-07-20 Thread Chris Waldrup
I helped a neighbor remove a broken headphone connector from her daughter's
iMac laptop.
I used a pin vise and a tiny drill bit like I use for drilling holes in PC
board. I drilled by hand into the broken connector barrel using the pin vise
and slowly worked the broken plug body out.

Re: [Elecraft] Elecraft repair

2022-07-20 Thread SCOTT MCDONALD via Elecraft
My KX3 took a 3 month sabbatical to the mothership the first of this year.

Communication was great, problem isolated over the phone in two calls, part was
available but I was advised that most Elecraft customers “prefer to have
Elecraft do those repairs” and that was all the encouragement I needed.

Return number sent immediately, checked a few times when the estimated repair
date wasn’t met, got a prompt response both times and all is well, I thought it
all very reasonable under the circumstances.

Other folks with KX3s in for repair at that time reported similar waits, so I
assumed it was a KX3 queue issue, as a good friend’s KPA500 made it there and
back in under a month during that same time period.

When my KPA500 needed repair I was told there was a group that repaired
KPA500's alone. My turnaround was just under a month door to door. So
different wait times for different gear sounds likely.

[Elecraft] K2 Menu Button

2022-07-20 Thread Aaron SCOTT K5ATG
I had this problem before but I can't seem to find it in my log on how
I did the repair. The K2 works just fine and all of the buttons work
as they should with the exception of the MENU/EDIT button. It either
does nothing at all or it causes the LCD display to go blank and the
radio stops receiving until I turn the K2 off and turn it back on. Any
help will be appreciated.
Thank you
